Who has a CTL SYS and CT-VA combo?

I think I need another vac, but want it to be as space efficient as possible, so am looking into the CTL SYS (the Systainer sized one), to use with the tablesaw TKS 80. But — and here is the catch — I really want to minimise using bags (stocking yet another size is not something I look forward to) & therefore would like to combine it with a cyclone.

The CT-VA would be handy, since it has the same footprint and can be stacked with other systainers (I think), but in the catalog there is no mention of the CTL SYS being compatible with the CT-VA…

Any fellow FOG-ers have this combo working or something sensible to say about it?

Hi!

It's not recommended, but it will work. :)

Take a look here, this video shows more than any words could tell.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi Bert

I have this setup and have been using it for just over 2 years. It works well but one should not expect it to be as good as a CT26 with the UDD.

Thank you’s to Oliver and Peter — these video’s should help me making a decision!

The CT-VA is just a plastic box and compatible with practically every vac in the world. It's just a matter of getting the proper connectors.

Watched these video’s and also a nice one from Mike’s Toolshop (comparing different Festool vacs — the Austrian accent needs some adjusting to, but it was very informative) & I think I have made up my mind insofar that I canceled out the combination I was asking about.

I currently consider getting another Midi (I own the older model) and the CT-VA, if those will fit together under my MFT/3. Need to do some calculations!

I've got that combo, but I mostly run the cyclone with an old Fein Turbo. If you've got a Midi then you're set for sitework. I'd consider getting that CT 36 on the Recon site and buying extra bags with the balance.
