This is a strange way for me to come back into the forum (I can’t even remember how it was I called myself “dear Flickschuster”).

Some years back - 4? 5? - I somehow “won” a box of fantastic homemade chocolates from someone on the forum.  It must have been for a limerick or other doggerel...sure couldn’t have been for any of my sawdust-making.  But I cannot come close to remembering who it could have been. Any help of any kind would be most appreciated - thanks in advance!

And just to bring up to date any who remember me...I was staggered to see coming up our driveway here in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness a stranger lady...she introduced herself as Fred West’s mother! She was planning a memorial service for Fred and for Fred Sr., with whom I had a tenuous connection - and because of which I joined this forum so many years back.

The other Big News I have to share is that, now that I’m at an age where most of my classmates have grandchildren looking at or in college, I now am for the first time an over-the-universe delighted very very proud father!  While I’ll not reveal my age on open forum, Jenny’s and my collective years are well into the triple digits. Holy cow.

All of the above seem like good possibilities.  [thumbs up]

Met bet is on [member=6239]hasslefactor[/member] .  I won a box of carmel.  But that was on talkfestool.com.  She hasn't been active here for quote some time unfortunately.

I have never read abything here about a contest like that. Must be the other forum. Check your pm's if there's any communication about what you say.

[member=8840]Der Flickschuster[/member] , I don't remember why you changed your name.  You originally were Alaska Ranger here and AlaskaRanger at TalkFestool.  You were much more active there than here.  I suspect that was because you, like many or us, also enjoyed having a place to talk about other stuff.

Funny thing, a month or so ago I saw an article somewhere about places on the Denali Trail and I thought of you.  I didn't remember your name(s) but I went searching on the internet because I remember that at the end of your postings you were considering some changes to your operations.

Welcome Back!

Coincidentally, Laurie just celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday.
A surprise bash was coordinated by Rick with her family.

I had never heard of "TalkFestool" until this thread. I checked it out and found not much current activity and few participants (less than 100)  but some threads were certainly consequential and worthy of note. I thought the vendor thread was worth the time, some of whom I had not heard. However, most of the  threads are very dated. I guess I am recommending most here at least consider visiting this site, perhaps pep it up. Leaky Roof seems to be a frequent visitor and supporter. Perhaps there might be candy in someone's future.

Lots of good info and such on tF. For the most part the usefulness of the info does not deteriorate with time. EX- might be about an old tool but if someone owns said old tool the info is still relevant.

TalkFestool was started up years ago during the early days of FOG.  This was before Festool took over FOG from Matthew Schenker.

When Festool took over FOG, the attraction of tF diminished.  I check both and have been active on both, but FOG is a far bigger community now.

There are some great threads there and it's potentially worthwhile to visit both when searching for information.  But the traffic and activity is significantly more active, and more global here than there now.

It was Laurie who was into making chocolates. I just buy large quantities of 10 pound slabs of dark chocolate and slowly consume them. I also donate slabs to library fundraiser events.
