I'm planning to go and I want to experience this event and of course to see the FESTOOL HQ.

Who's in?

I will be there as well.  Looking to meet a few folks!

Tyler, you should have our FOG screen names printed on name tags!

Cheers. Bryan.

I'm planning on going and am betting those who do decide to go won't be disappointed. Having said that, I will miss the previous Providence RI Connect events and hope that Festool will reconsider doing them again.

I am signed up and hotel reservations made.  Now I just need my oh-so-understanding wife to make the necessary arrangements for her new job out of town to stay with my FOG dogs - Mac and Indy.  Mac would love to make the trip, Indy would puke all the way to Indy, and I am sure that I know someone there who would welcome them into her furry household for a few days whereas I am planning on coming early and staying later.  BUT my fear is that they would demand to go to the show and then all Festoolian havoc would reign and I would be flogged about the head and hindquarters with a dust extractor hose.

Only time will tell!

I will be there, also trying to put something together to have people up to my shop the following day.

Bob,

I am staying at the motel usually used by class attendees.  There is a PGA event that weekend North of Indy so it might be tough northwards.

I will be there- Providence is a little far away from South Dakota so glad they are having it this year in Indiana.  This is my first Festool Connect and am excited to be able to go.

To get the times I wanted for my flights, my plane doesn't leave until Tuesday to fly back here.  If anyone has ideas on what to do in the Indianapolis area, please let me know.  Maybe have to check out the Speedway if they have a tour going on Monday.

Regards,
Gerald

Peter,

Which hotel is that?

Karl

There are several hotels in Lebanon itself, where Festool USA HQ is located. Of those options, I would personally say that the Holiday Inn is the best of the bunch. But you are ~20 minutes from Indianapolis' northwest side. There are not a lot of restaurant options other than fast food in this area.

I like the Hampton Inn in Zionsville a lot, it's only a couple of years old and very nice. Conveniently between Lebanon and Indianapolis if you want to go into the city for any site seeing, etc. From this hotel, you're about 10-15 minutes from Festool USA and only 5 or so from Indianapolis. There are a few restaurants across the road that are decent and plenty more in Zionsville, which is a well-to-do suburb of Indy. If you're interested, one of only three Bentley / Rolls Roybe dealerships in the U.S. is there, right behind the Dairy Queen.

Festool was, last I knew, using the Fairfield Inn on W 86th in Indianapolis. It's about 20 minutes from Festool USA and an easy drive. It's right across from Traders Point which has many restaurant options, a movie theater, shopping, etc. Just down the road to the east there are tons of other food options and shopping.

I would highly recommend that everyone consider visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It has a great museum that's open every day and you can even ride a lap around the track (on a bus) for a few bucks. A lot of history there.

Unsure if I'll make it to Connect or not, but it's possible.

Whoops, I think you were asking more about things to do.  [embarassed]

Well, CONNECT is what to do! The highlight of everyone's trip will just getting to meet the many great people and personalities behind the great company whose tools we all appreciate. It's been commented on many times, especially by those of you who have attended one of the Festool end user trainings, that it's a special thing to experience the sense of family at Festool. I have no doubt that Festool will make each of you feel like a part of that family. [smile]

Um, like I said, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be at the top of my list. It's about 30 minutes or so from Festool.

If you have kids, Indy has a phenomenal Children's Museum downtown. About 40 minutes from Festool.

It was opened about the time I moved away from Indy, but Go Ape is supposed to be cool. Zip lines and rope courses and stuff if you're into that.

If you like beer, there's some good breweries in the area. I cannot personally recommend any but I think the Sun King one is supposed to be good.

Bubs Burgers is a great place to grab some eats. Friendlys Tavern in Zionsville has killer wings and I make it a point to go there every chance I get.

I never went there, but heard good things about Fast Time Indoor Karting which is close by too.

Keystone at the Crossings is an upscale mall with plenty of high end stores.

Chicago is about 3 hours or so north. Plenty of stuff to do there if you want to make the trip up.

Lastly, you can check the schedules to see if there are any sporting events going on in town that week. Usually something happening at Lusas Oil Stadium or Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

While common for you folks from the East coast, not so much for us in the Midwest. few and far between....

Indianapolis is home to a real deal Jewish deli, Shapiro's Delicatessen. Shapiro's has been in Indianapolis for 110 years and is great. It's downtown so you'll need transport.
