Who's going to the Festool Connect 2016?

Three announcements about Festool Connect:

1. We’ll be selling reconditioned tools! There will be options for both pick-up and shipping. (Credit cards only.)

2. Our friend Tom Silva from “This Old House” will be our special guest speaker!

3. Due to limited parking availability, we'll be offering off-site parking with a shuttle to the event. Please park at the following location:

135 North Mount Zion Road
Lebanon, IN 46052

For those requiring handicapped parking, limited spaces will be available at our facility. Please see parking attendant for assistance.

Have fun!

To add, and Tyler can correct me if I'm wrong, but no phone or internet orders. Must be present to purchase recon tools.

You'll be asked to select a dealer to credit for your purchase. So, pick The Tool Nut! [wink]

Exactly. This is a Festool Connect exclusive, so it's on-site only.

i'm not trying to be a cheapskate ok well maybe I am but if the tools are sold at connect 2016 and we "choose a dealer" that is out of state perhaps from where we are native to will we be charged sales tax?  I wasn't planning on going to connect but if that is where the recon sale is then I would probably take a drive from metro Detroit down there.  But if I am going to pay 7% Indiana sales tax to save 10% on a tool it probably wouldn't be worth it to me.

Tyler can clear this up, but I am guessing the you will be charged sales tax only if the shipping address is in one of the states that Festool has a "nexus" of business in  - a Festool EMPLOYEE NOT A Festool DEALER resides in that state. Tools will be purchased at the Connect event, BUT tools will not be handed over at the event, they will be dropped shipped from Festool to your given address.

Because you'll be purchasing from Festool (based in Indiana), you'll be charged Indiana sales tax. The "choose a dealer" portion is more for internal use. Because we usually don't sell direct, we want to make sure that our dealers benefit from this sale.

thanks for the clarification!  I've always wanted to go to this thing so maybe I will try to convince the wife to let me go.  This sale is pushing me over the edge.

What happened to the discussions about how to improve the reconditioned tool sale?

While obviously a nice bonus for those attending, it does not make the reconditioned tool sale a better event for the rest of us.

+1 I am not going to Indiana, but am interested in recon tools. Is there a plan to offer these to the rest of us too..?  [member=57769]TylerC[/member]

Again, Tyler will chime in, but I think Connect is and excellent opportunity for Festool to sell these tools. But I can't imagine, they will sell so many there as to not consider having another recon tool sale in the foreseeable future. Just my opinion, nothing more than that.

This is one recon sale. It won't be the only one.

Quite frankly, we have a good number of recon tools in inventory right now. Unless the Connect sale is MUCH bigger than we anticipate, we'll be doing other sales in the near future. We're working on something that's a very different approach to recon. I can't say much about -- in part because we don't know if we can pull it off yet -- but it will be online and ongoing.

Online...I like that. [thumbs up]

During the last sale, I went through the local retailers, however, finding a local retailer that knew how the sale worked was just about impossible. I put in 7-8 different requests and they were at different times and never got a single item.

I think the local retailers were more interested in depleting their own inventories than depleting Festool corporate inventory. And I don't blame them, what's the incentive for them? Their audience is local and limited and handling recon tools is just another lost sale for them.

This is going to be an awesome event with everything Festool has planned & I'd encourage anyone on the fence to go! Even more so now with the recon announcement.

However, Indianapolis is a great city with a lot of things to do. (As someone who's lived in Indiana for 2/3 of my life and currently lives in downtown Indy, I'm pretty biased.)

Tyler may be biased but he's right. On my first couple trips to Lebanon for Festool trainings I spent the nights in my hotel room catching up on emails and would leave to get back home to Chicago as soon as I could. After going into downtown Indy once I now always get into downtown for a night or two during my visits to Lebanon.

I'll miss the event since I'm in a wedding that day (no not the same wedding Tyler is going to ;)). Hope everyone has a great time!

I'll be there. I'm looking forward to meeting all from here!  BTW I'll be at the Motel 6 in Lebanon Friday night. I think Neil C said he's staying there too.

I am just curious who is staying at the Fairfield NW on Saturday night or who might be interested in getting together?

I will be in Indy Thursday night thru Sunday night (Friday night is already booked).

Staying in Lebanon at the Holiday Inn, but would be interested in hanging out with fellow FOG peeps. Peter, let us know the time and place.

I arrive Friday afternoon/evening, leave Monday afternoon. Hanging in town to visit my oldest son who lives in the area on Sunday.
