Who's going to the Festool Connect 2016?

I had a great time at Festool Connect 2016!  Just reset my forum password and I have a goal to get active on here again.  Going to connect reminded me that other guys out there are doing the same work, having the same issues and finding out great tips. Everyone at connect has something in common, they are guys who appreciate the craft and are accomplished in what they do. Expect to see more of me out here.  I had dinner with Seth and Peter in a large group and could not for the life of me figure out where we had met before!  I realized later it was seeing their faces out here on the forum! Had a great time!

It was great meeting you! Hope to run into again at some point!
Sean

I'm so glad that so many of you had such a good time. I was really disappointed to miss it. Everyone in the office is talking about how much fun it was.

Just getting settled back at home from Festool Connect. Had a great trip, here's a video I put together from the event!

Well done, Johnny. Thanks for posting.

So how was the Recon sale at Festool Connect? Did you guys that went leave anything for the rest of us?  [big grin]

Good discounts?

Thanks to Festool for a great open house. It was nice to tour the building, see the roadshow truck and see the tool demonstrations. The very good meal and band were nice extras. Because of the crowd I missed Tom Silva's speech, but judging by the frequent laughter it must have been good.

It was good to get to talk with Peter and Seth some as well as some new friends. I didn't get a chance to talk to the man I've sent more than a few dollars to -Bob Marino. It would have been nice to talk to Brice too.

You know it was a good event when my wife didn't complain even though we spent more time there than I thought we would. She even talked me into buying a tool!  Got a T18 set that looked new and works great.

Tom, would have been nice to meet you (and others too) at that show or have a brew or two afterwards. Good news is, I'm pretty sure Festool will have one next year.

I had a great time meeting everyone yesterday!  What a well put together event and NeilC eloquently described all the surroundings of yesterday.

A big thanks to Festool for making it happen!!!

I look forward to seeing all at future events!

Kurt

It was nice meeting and talking to you Kurt! Hope to run into you at a later event!
Sean

Sean, yes it was nice to meet you too and I hope to see you again!  Kurt

Thanks to Festool for holding this event on Saturday- it was worth the trip!  I had no intention of buying any recon tools but found myself in front of the line not knowing what the line was for, so thought it was Divine Intervention and had to take advantage!  :)  Best parts of the event though were touring the facility, meeting the wonderful Festool staff (Minnie made a point to stop and say Hi to folks waiting in line, and our regional rep, Danny Hale was in the truck), and many of the FOG members.  OK- it was cool to meet Tom Silva too!  Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to say Hi to all the FOG members in attendance as there were so many there.

If Festool holds it in IN next year, I will be back.  I think my wife will be along next time to keep me from spending so much $$.

Regards,
Gerald

Here's a pic of that 12'+ table, built by Tom, Norm and a few Festool guys (Sedge, Jim and Brent). Got to spend a few minuyes talking with Tom about that - a real pleasure.

I would like to compliment Festool on this year's event.  Everyone I spoke to was happy overall.  And I spoke to a lot of people.  For almost five hours I had a captive audience of those standing in line to purchase recon tools.  Did what I enjoy most - talk to people about tools and answer questions.  It was amazing how many people came thru the line more than once.  Wasn't to see me again of course.

I missed out on the german food and seeing Tom Silva but did end up getting with Seth a private tour of the new digs and was invited back to do some more training classes.

Just like with the training classes some of the best experiences are had outside of the event, and I had a blast talking over dinner with quite a few Festooligans and Foggers.  Had a chance to meet Hans from TSO Products and a whole bunch of guys gave input over dinner and drinks for another product of theirs that might be coming to market that I believe is unlike anything on the market and is getting better as I write this.  Please don't ask - I am sworn to secrecy.  But as many will attest when I said how cool the squares they make were, this will be as cool or cooler.

Got to spend time with Seth and Shane  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] also.  Seeing a huge smile on Christian's face as the event unfolded in many ways like we talked about way back on September 3, 2010 was great.

And then there was Ms. Minnie.  It is unbelievable how many people she has made an impact on and at times it was like she had her own fan club (with good reason!)

Rick Bush and all the others pulled another winning rabbit out of the hat and I can't wait to see what next year brings.

Peter

Very well said, Peter. I wish I could go back in time; the two things I missed were not being able to see/hear the presentations by Christian and Tom Siva and only having the pleasure of meeting a handful of my customers, not being able to 'hang with the gang" - more customers, Festool staff, you, Seth, Shane, etc.
Christian had to be beaming with pride from where Festool USA was when he first became CEO of Festool USA (2001??) and to where it is now; he was the guiding light and spirit.
Well, done Festool.

Agreed Peter and Bob!

Not enough time to hang with everyone as much as I would have liked. But, I did get to see a lot of folks (too many to name) and meet some new ones. Customers, friends, FOG guys, YouTube personalities, etc.

That's what Connect is all about... "connecting".  [wink]

Was good to see many of my good friends / ex-colleagues at Festool USA as well, including Christian.
