Why can't I register my chargers and batteries

The 18V AirStream chargers and batteries are not cheap. And if one took a nose dive before its time I would hope that it would be covered under warranty. But how will FT know which chargers and batteries I bought when if I can't register them on their website?

When I tried entering the TR and SN for my charger it said invalid tool number. Same thing happened back when I registered my TSC55, I couldn't register the charger or batteries.

Does FT know which charger and batteries shipped out with which tool, and hence registering those items is not required. Seems unlikely but I guess its possible.

So now I have 3 AirStream chargers and 3 batteries bought at different times but none are registered.

According tohttps://www.festool.de/-/media/tts/...oads-legal/sai/festool_sai_de-de_20170102.pdf the batteries and chargers are covered under service-all-included if they're bought after 1.1.2015. They don't have to be registered by themselves, but you'll need to supply the invoice in case you want them serviced.

IMHO it would make sense if we could register everything with a serial number (and everything above some $ would have one), so the stuff could be blacklisted (and the one handing it in for service be delivered to the local authorities) in case of theft.

No, you can only register tools. Not chargers and batteries, expensive as they are.

I don't know how warrantee exactly works in the US, but here in Holland having the receipt would be enough to claim warrantee on any part of the package.

Yes, this is what I was thinking too in addition to any warranty issue. Being able to have the s/n of these pieces recorded for purposes of recovery if stolen.

The only manufacturer I know of who cares about battery serial numbers is RIDGID because they give a lifetime warranty on batteries sold with a tool, and for some reason only batteries included with the tool are covered, of course the tool is covered also. If you buy additional batteries you can not register them for coverage even if you bought them at the same time as the tool. Don't know if AEG does this but they are essentially the same tools with different labels made by the same company (TTI).
