Why is Festool selling a STEALTH tool to only some people???

I'm a little miffed with Festool.  I have been a very loyal, and until now a very satisfied customer, but it has become apparent that Festool has a tool that a number of people have been able to acquire and love that they don't make readily available to the rest of us! [mad]

This tool is called the CSX. I can't find any real information on it, but a lot of people, even here on FOG, own it and talk about it with loving praises.  In fact, if you do a FOG search for "CSX", there are 232 references to this stealth tool! [blink]

Now, I own a CXS which has become my most used Festool. I love it! Size, power, battery life, attachments. BUT...I 'may' want the CSX because I have Festool OCD and this addiction requires that I at least have a chance to evaluate and potentially purchase every available Festool tool. WHY WON'T YOU LET ME SEE THIS HIDDEN GEM CALLED THE "CSX"?? [crying]

It looks like the CSX may be at least similar to the CXS, but unless I can do a complete comparison, I can't be sure. I wanna see it! [tongue]

Does the CSX come as a set like the CXS? Does the CSX "look" like the CXS? What does the CSX have over the CXS? C'mon Festool...I don't care...I just WANT IT!  [drooling]

There are 904 references to the CXS that I own on FOG... and 232 for the CSX. That means that about one in four of the small drills is a CSX vs CXS! [eek]  I just can't understand why Festool won't come clean on this important issue. I guess they care about some "special people" and the rest of us are left with the droppings! [scratch chin]

I WANT ANSWERS! [big grin]

Cheers,
Frank

Heh heh... Confused yet?? [wink]

I've even heard there's a secret saw called a KAPAX and there's new boxes called S U S T A I N E R S.  [laughing]

EDIT had to put spaces in the above as the forum auto corrects to systainers now  [smile]

Simple, Sitting Elf. It's a CXS when the chuck spins clockwise. It's CSX when it spins counterclockwise. Thassit.

Almost correct [member=23615]charley1968[/member]. It is a North and Southern Hemisphere thing; like water direction down a plug hole. The CSX is only available South of the Equator if some of my earliest posts regarding this drill are to be believed!  [smile] [embarassed]

Frank is going to be really miffed when he finds out about the new Kapax.  I have had mine for months!

Let's be honest though, whilst we're on the topic of names. Festool really need to get their act together and stop giving some tools silly names and others just model codes or abbreviations.

I don't for the life of me see any logic in for example, their routers just being OF XXXX, but insisting on calling other tools by obscure names like Kapex, Conturo, Vecturo, etc.

the CXS is the tool; CSX is what brings it to your town (at least in CONUS)...  [poke]

[popcorn]

I think that it maybe one of those blood cults where all the members must be type O. Have to ask Jonathan Maberry.

LOL.  I guess if I played with the autocorrect then this thread would have no content.

Regarding the comment about strange Festool names - have you looked at the new names of companies these days?

At least when Festool creates a new name for a tool in the development phase (which will be different from the final name) they choose the first name of the most recently born son or daughter of an employee.

Maybe that prototype name should remain right through to production. A T55 could be Malene which I understand from an Internet search means Magnificent.

I always liked how Lotus named their models with something that starts with an E:  Eclat, Elan, Elite, Esprit...  My high school woodshop teacher drove a Lotus Europa.

The CSX can be somewhat rare and sometimes is only visible at night, but they do exist!

However, they are made by GE, not Festool.

The CSX

Actually, what Sparky said is true...

CSX is a major railroad company in the USA. Probably the biggest.

Glad everyone 'got' the humor in my OP!  I figured that someone might actually take it for real! [tongue]

Cheers,
Frank
