Why is the CT Mini NAINA?

I'm in the market for another CT and the Mini is exactly what I need. The Midi is too big, and I need Bluetooth, so the CT15 is ruled out. Really bummed that it's not in the US anymore. Seems puzzling as to why not too, since they've offered it for as long as I can remember before this recent hiatus. My first Festool CT was a 2016 Mini. Loved that little monster.

Well, the US is big, so only big bins are appropriate.

Jokes aside, the CT Mini is really an "installer's vac" and even at that it makes sense mostly if one needs to be carying it up flights of stairs in an appartment block without lift(s). Not something very common in US but quite common in Europe .. so most likely it just did not sell.

Further, in Europe, the Mini is commonly sold as a household vac (you need small bin, as big one means organics will smell for staing too long in it in an average household). This again uplifts the sales disproportionately compared to the US.
And, again, it is very specific and only because household vacs are law-limited to meager 700W in Europe ... while the restriction does not apply for industrial DEs.

Best is probably to offload the Mini bottom of someone in US and give them your new Midi one. I am sure there are folks who will be up for a swap.

Also, it is possible to order the mall bin as a spare part.

There really isn't a lot of size difference between the MINI & the MIDI. Here is a photo comparison between the MINI I & the MIDI I. The weight difference is only 3 oz and the height difference is 1.5".

Here's something to think about if you plan on using it as a wet vac. The bottom bucket is so shallow that when you move the vac, the water sloshes up the sides and activates the auto shut off system. It works slightly better if left stationary but even then, frequent emptying is necessary because of the limited capacity.

I would NOT recommend the MINI be used as a wet vac because it is extremely annoying.

Exactly the reason I want it haha. I already have a a CT26, CT Sys, and CT15, I need basically the smallest possible CT with bluetooth to be portable for job site reasons, but then also live in a cozy spot under the SawStop for blade guard dust duties (BT remote) when not in the field.

Again, if you're thinking about ever using it as a wet vac, this is the max water level before the auto shut down kicks in.

When you roll the vac around, the water sloshes and if you keep it stationary the water can get sprayed around the interior for whatever reason. In both cases, I was constantly emptying it and drying the contacts with a towel. I was very tempted to just drag the CT 22 or the Milwaukee 8925 out of the basement.

Or buy the MIDI and swap the tub from the CT-15 as needed.  Then the only loss of function compared to the MINI is the brake.
The MIDI and CT15 tubs are the same ...
[smile]

The best bet, in US, is an offer for a tub swap in Classifieds. There were several folks lamenting the MINI purchase and wanting the MIDI from what I remember. Pretty sure someone will bite with both sides happy.

Thanks for the gentle correction.

I agree with the tack.  There's almost always someone looking for a swap like this; they might even be local-ish enough to make it worth it.

[eek]  Well that's something I've never seen before, a CT MINI in a CT MIDI box... [poke]
