Why the Rotex is one of my 4 favourite Festool products.

Very impressive.
I have 160  sq/m  of concrete  formwork  (faced with  marine plywood)  to sand  smooth  and I think I might  invest in a few of those  bad boys  from festool.
 
Nice job - I remember the first time I used the Rotex in geared mode.  Such a revelation.  I think your review is appropriately giddy. 
 
Being in the floor refinishing business, the rotex's changed my entire approach to everything I do.  I used to not even touch stair risers. But with the festool sanders, I now do complete Victorian staircase restorations.  I have 13 rotex's, they are the absolute best aggressive sander I've ever used.  Another good option is the mirka sanders, but I will take a rotex anyway.

I love this sander as well, and it's on my wish list for the future. It's a shame that TTS have hit the magic $1k on this sander in the RO150 version.

Ah well nobody said this hobby was cheap lol

Mine's going strong for 7 years now, and never let me down either. I'm not using it every day but when I do I don't spare it, I use it on all kinds of materials, on many different surfaces, and I don't mind leaning down on it.

Like Grakat I do notice this sander is becomming more expensive very fast. When I bought it 7 years ago it went for €530, now it's already at 695. 30% price increase in 7 years.
 
Speaking of which, I'm just finishing up a large stair refinishing job, with total square footage of around 310, where over 1/3 of that is riser (and sloped as well).  Needless to say, the RO150 and RO90 have made this actually doable.  The guy I've been working with saw how many stairs I got through on the first day with the RO150, and promptly went out and got one himself.

I don't have the other two as of yet but I must agree using the track saw is great fun.

I recently bought an ETS 150/5  which is fantastic, although not a game changer. I always wondered what the big deal with the rotex was, well now i know

Haha, I believe it is but have never used it to polish.....yet. I have always used my angle grinder with a soft pad and never been really happy with it, but that was before I owned a rotex. Note to self. Buy the green head for the rotex and have a go!
 
My first Festool purchase was a ro150e.  It was an amesome sander.  I sold it after Christmas being I got the newer design ro150 feq.  It's a great sander.  It's amazing the stock removal and the dust collection.  I definitely like the edge protector Is a nice feature. 
 
I've been using mine for Surfboard repair, and WOW, I can do fine work and also just gouge into a board to get the job done quickly, I can then polish it up too, no more fibreglass and resin dust all over the place, no more gunked up sanding pads and hello to great ding repair. Also love using it on my VW paintwork. So versatile.
 
Been  using  a rotex 150  sanding  oak  straight from the planer  with 240  grit  in rotex mode  then straight to  varnishing.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong  but I don't see a reason  to  go out of rotex.  Just seems  bloody quick.
I've thrown my old metabo in the junk heap. [big grin]
 
Recently bit the bullet and bought one. Had enough of using the old belt sander for the amount of surface work I do and must say after watching all the demos I had my reservations as only small examples were being worked on and not complete jobs. I'm now sold. Hasn't sped productivity up much but far greater control. Tried the Bosch and Makita equivalents but felt the Rotex had the edge over both and let's be honest it would have been disloyal.
