I put my new boom together last weekend and tried it out on the job yesterday. I like it , but I have a problem. The heavy cord that goes from the CT22 to the boom won't work on the auto setting. If I plug the tool directly into the vac it works fine. If I take the heavy short cord and plug it into an outlet with the tool connected, it works fine, but when I attach it as intended to the vac it doesn't work.  ??? I don't get it. Am I missing something obvious?

Jim,

I have the Boom Arm.  Everything works fine - no problems.   In fact, I've gone one further.  I connected a "Y" adapter to the short Boom Arm cord (see below) and can now connect other tools to the CT without disconnecting the Festool Plugit cord going up the Boom Arm.  For example, after connecting my RotoZip to the "Y" adapter, it will start my CT when in it is in Auto position.

Hmmm, let's see if I understand... If you plug a Festool directly into the CT socket it works?   And then you plug the short cord into the CT, the Festool into the short cord, and flip the switch to the auto position...  Then it does NOT work?

It looks like something is wrong.  Sometimes "pinching" plug prongs helps them make contact.  Have you tried "pinching" the plug prongs of the short cord and then replugging?

Regards,

Dan.

Dan, that is correct. Which led me to think that the short cord was bad, but if I plug the short cord into a wall socket with the Festool plugged into the short cord it works fine. It just doesn't work when plugged into the CT.  ???

I saw that thread about the 3 plug W adapter, and I guess everyone else did too ... ;D ... When I tried to order a few I found that they are out of stock till sometime in May.  :(

Well, I think that it's an issue with the plug in the CT. The problem that I was having yesterday was when I was using the TS75. Today I was using the ETS 150 without the boom or boom cord and it was shutting off occasionally. If I fooled around with the plug at the CT it would come back on, but only if I held it in a particular position.

Today while installing borg boxes (other wise crappy cabinets ) I had my c-12 battery ing the charger plugged into a 3 way off my boom arm. I used my trion jigsaw and the ct kept on running... I assume there was just enough current being used that once the jigsaw started the ct, the battery charger kept the ct running. Strange. I unplugged the battery charger, and the ct acted normal.
