She never really said how big.

Cabinet carcasses are Domino-ed, LR 32 for the adjustable shelves, TS 55 for the ripping and my  delicious, new (To me anyway), Sawhelper and Makita miter saw for the crosscuts.

In the planning stages. The hardware for one of those ladders will set me back more than the shelves cost me, I kid you not.

Nice job but I'm wondering whether it will be a bit overpowering around the doors when it's full of books.

Very nice! I'd say you are certainly justifying the tool purchase. A sliding ladder would be helpful

Nice job. Well she wanted a bookcase she sure did get one. Goes with saying everything in Texas is big!

I was worried about it overwhelming the room too. My sister is an interior decorator and she said it would be fine. Now that its finished, I have to agree with her. I don't have a wide enough lens to get any more of the room in one shot, but to me, it feels fine in here.

Once it has books and ornaments on it it will look less overwhelming, especially if you do not place the books all in one small area.

Monju,

Very nice construction and finish.  The french doors, bookcases and drawer units appear as one  because of the uniformity in the finish.

I also like the subtle color contrast between the walls and the woodwork.
