Will Duct Tape Work to Fix Tears in 27 mm Hose

Hello,

I purchased a CT36 off of CL a few weeks ago.  Well, I discovered that the hose has a few problems - mainly tears in the black portion of the hose.  The tears occur in every black segment coming out from the vac connection side for about 8" (hopefully this is visible in the picture).

If I wrap duct tape around the effected area do you think that would provide any benefit or should I just cut off the affected area?

Any other ideas on how to effectively seal the tears?

Thanks in advance!

So I Tried hot glue - seems to do the trick - not sure how long it will last, but was faster and easier than running out for some silicon tape.

I will use the silicon tape next if the glue comes off.

I was commenting on a different thread that the suction of the CT 36 was quite a bit less than my shop vac...not sure if it is in my head or not, but the CT now seems much stronger that I have plugged all the holes....

Thanks again for the link to the earlier thread.

If you got a nice price on the CT, spring for a new hose. I have mainly Festool ones, but Bosch makes a nice one for a really good price. Look on Amazon, not sure if any of the dealers on here stock it or not ...

(Apologies if they do...)

If it is only 8", cut off the bad area and reinstall the cuff.

Liquid Tape is a good idea - I think I have some of that lying around.

FYI, the hot glue did not hold...went out later that night and it had failed in several places.

And certainly will just cut off the 8" if I cannot find a way to plug the tears.

Ulitmately, I will be getting a larger hose (for the TS) but would like to keep this as long as possible...

what about that self amalgamating tape for temp plumbing repairs? you strech it and then when it tries to retract it clings to the next wrap of tape.
