Will Festool introduce a FastFix Eccentric chuck for the CXS?

Hello fellow foggers,

The Eccentric chuck is something I use alot on my OLD ( cough ) CDD 12 FX drill. I have been looking at upgrading to the CXS and was wondering if Festool ever plan on introducing a Eccentric chuck for this drill.
From what I have seen of the CXS it might cost a bit of moola to design and build such a fitting, but it would be a nice option to be able to buy it on the side and not in a set.

Wayne, word is that the eccentric chuck is not needed for the CXS because the head is small enough as it is. Because it is not as big as the heads of the C or T series drills, it can reach into corners just fine by itself. At least, that's what I've read here. So I doubt you'll gonna see one anytime soon.

I think I might have read that somewhere on the forum also. Makes sense though. Next time I'm at the dealer I will take a closer look at the CXS.

If you look back on some of the review videos for the CXS, they show how it doesn't need a eccentric chuck because of the smaller form factor. Might have been Paul or Dave's review.

i wished the CXS had this, but i have not yet come across a situation where the current head was too wide.
yesterday i even drilled shelf holes with it at 32mm from the corner with no probs.
and if yoy fit the angle chuck then you can get even closer into corners, possible withing 12mm.

Thats true, from what I have seen in pictures the angle chuck would get you really close to corners.

if they came out with one i'd take a serious look at it. Can't say i've had a need for one yet as the device is preety darn adaptive as it is, but i'd raise an eyebrow towards one if one were to appear

Ive been thinking about this for the past few days and now I don't think festool would ever bother with this fitting. For me I think the whole point of the CXS is to have a lower cost drill for the market. The fact that it lacks a brushless motor surely points out the fact that Festool where trying to cut costs. Adding a eccentric chuck would cost a pretty penny because Festool would not want to put out a cheap version that would not stand up to the kind of abuse that the CXS can dish out.

Just my [2cents]

i think someone said on here somewhere that technology currently doesn't allow to make brush less motors small enough for the CXS,

Not sure, I'll do a bit of research on the subject.

Read that too, but it doesn't make sense. Technology is up to it. I think the cost cutting was a far more important factor. Everyone can see the CXS was meant to be a budget release to make it competitive with other brands.
