Wish the MFT had...

When I got a second Multifunction Table I found a couple of things that I wish were done different...

The one leveling and three fixed feet work fine for a single MFT, but with my shop floor I could use levelers on all four feet when joining the two tables together.  And I would also hope for different levelers -- ones that have a little finer adjustment and will not easily be damaged if the table is dragged a little instead of being lifted.  Oh, and I would love it if these could be offered as a retro fit for existing tables.

Another little suggestion is to change the type of stop used to locate the guide rail support brackets.  These stops must be removed when joining tables along their long dimension unless one uses a spacer between the connection.  This could be alleviated by supplying stops that use socket-head set screws like the table connectors.  And it would also be nice if the MFT came equipped with a second set of these stops installed in the other profiles to facilitate mounting the guide rail perpendicular to the 'standard' position.  Lastly on these stops, another stop like this works great for using with the fence lock -- with the fence set 90 to the guide rail, clamp and lock the fence, install stop into T slot from behind the fence and tighten against the fence lock -- it will contact with the lock's nut within the T slot -- now the fence can be easily returned to this set position.

These are just little things that I would like to see...  Please don't think that I am complaining about the tables or anything like that, for I really, really LOVE these tables.  These minor changes would make me love them just a tiny bit more.

I agree on the levelers.  My floor is so uneven that I had to put a piece of 1/2" material under the leveler foot to have enough adjustment to work.  I'd like all 4 feet to be levelers so I could actually level my table and not just stop it from rocking.

Another suggestion would be to have the legs separate so the bottoms could be removed and the table would sit about 18" tall....would make an even better assembly table at that height when needed.

Why yes, adjustable height legs would be another plus!  No more 'one size fits all'...

This is what I did to get my MFT at 38 inches versus 32 (which was killing my back).  I got some 1 3/8 in round dowel stock from HD.  I cut 4 pieces 8 inches long.  I took each piece and made a 3 in round tenon on the router table.  These tenons should fit very snuggly into the MFT leg.  I then drilled a hole in the bottom for the levelers.   Note I had to remove the existing leveler and the plastic end caps.  This gives me the height I wanted and the adjustability at each leg for uneven floors.  Because the tenons are buried deep into each leg and very snug the leg extensions are rock solid. This is what it looks like.

Thanks a bunch Mark!  Your setup looks better than the fix I was considering...  I am sure that your solution will work great for me.

One day Festool will also be offering their other four legged creatures to us -- just hope that when that happens that these tools will 'be on the level' -- so to speak.

some sort of way to return the stop to a known position would be nice.  I do'nt like to have to take the stops out of the table that are set up to 90 deg just so I can use a clamp.

The Frount stop for the guide rale when it is in the all the way down position the tab still protrudes above the hight of the table and I have to remove the clamp compleatly if I am working on a big piece that may hang off the table so it doesn't it it.  It would be nice if in the all the way down position it was below the hight of the table and I could just leave it on.

I agree, that would be nice.
