Woodcraft Offering Triton 3-1/4 hp router for $215

I could be wrong but I think Timmy C is also selling that Triton router and his everyday price is just north of $200 If I recall correctly.

I know that Timmy also sells Grex.  But I searched his website and could not find any mention of Triton.  ???

We had a conversation over the phone and he told me that he was going to be selling Triton at his brick and mortar store. I asked for a price on both Triton's and seem to recall they were just over $200ish.

At this time he doesn't have a website for the Brick and Mortar store so you'd have to call him.

Then yet again, Timmy could be sitting at home reading my posts "fuming" cause I just cut into his bottom line or "that was the old price"

I'd say give him a call at Festool Junkie

I been planning on buying the 2 1/2 hp Triton router for my router table but seeing that the 3 1/4 hp is only $15 more I might want to get this one.  How does this compare to the 2 1/2 hp for router table use?  I seen mixed reviews on the 3 1/4 hp router.

I got the bigger one at Woodcraft today.  $215 minus 10%. 

The reviews that I've seen indicate that it's a decent router, but excels in a router table (my usage).  I played with it for a few minutes when I got home.  The quality is not as good as a Festool router, but it seemed decently put together.  Installing and removing a bit is quite easy.  Much better than my Hitachi (which goes on Craigslist shortly).  And it runs very smoothly.  Controls were a little rough until I moved them around for a few minutes. 

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I will comment from here but the comments are about the whole subject, not anything specific to your good post.  I have used and worn out several Triton routers in router table applications in my studio. The issue is dust.  As it infliltrates every nook and crany of the machine it begins to bind the raise/lower mechanism, the power off slider and the auto collet lock feature.  They run well, the collets self release but the lift and height set become problematic over time.  I really liked them at first but finally had to conclude that the maintenance requirements to keep them clean and working properly just were too time consuming so no longer have or use them.  For occasional use I would likely still enjoy them and would certainly opt for the larger over the smaller unit.  For continuious use, nope, not here.  My "final" solution was to go back to the hopelessly out of date 3.5hp VS PC fixed base router mounted in a JessEm offset lift (the one built into the table top with a bell knob crank hanging off to the side.  Hope this helps.
