Woodpecker Micro Adjust

I bought a Woodpecker Micro Adjust and mounted it on a strip of oak with a Magswitch at each end.

I butt the Micro Adjust against the fence of my table saw and switch on the magnets.

One full turn of the Micro Adjust moves the fence 1/32".

This gives me the ability to dial in very precise cuts.

Did you actually attach to the fence, or can you only push and not pull?

I just built the tool and did not plan to attach to the fence although that would be very useful to do so.

I have used it to "sneak up" on a cut. I butted the tool against the fence with the fence set up for a slightly proud (fat) cut. Made the first cut. Tried the fit to the box side was trying to match. I then unlocked the fence, turned the adjuster to push the fence closer to the blade, and then locked the fence to make another cut. I repeated the process until the cut was exactly correct.

I think a full turn moves the adjuster 1/32" so my 1/2 turn moves  the adjuster 1/64". Not positive about these numbers.

There isn't any reason the reverse process would work just as well.

I had tried to make something like this, but it was too crude to be useful. The Woodpecker tool is high quality.

Bumping this thread as I think its still a great idea! Planning on doing something similar to this, but I want to figure out a good way to be able to push AND pull the fence. That would be really nice.

The Micro-Fence for my router is in the .002" range.

Yes Ive seen people do setups like that, but Id be using it with a SawStop PCS.

Off the top of my head, I'm assuming you don't want to screw directly to the fence as you would want to easily install and remove it?  The top of the fence has a nice recess.  If you can rabbet a block of wood to nest into that recess with a friction fit (a micro adjust would help a lot  [smile]), then glue that to another block that would run down along the side of the fence.  Screw the micro adjust to the vertical block of wood and use Birdhunter's idea for the magswitch to mount of remove the whole jig to the table. 

I don't know if the two fence sides would flex over time and you probably want to keep that block centered near any anchor points that hold the fence sides to the actual fence assembly.

I was kinda thinkin about countersinking some tee nuts from the back side of both sides of the sacrificial wood on the fence. Drill through and I can run bolts through the Micro Adjust and into the fence. Could move it to either side then and it would have the ability to push and pull.

I sense you guys are over engineering this. If I want to use my Micro adjust to "back off" the cut. I just unscrew the adjuster a tad, unlock the fence, and push the fence to the right against the Micro Adjust. Done.

Maybe so, but I do like the idea of being able to adjust the fence back and forth with the screw. If it proves to be too difficult to accomplish then Ill just use it as you suggested. But Im pretty confident I can come up with something.

I think backlash will be a major issue. It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Without drilling holes in my fence, building some sort of a bridge over the fence that attaches to the Microadjust comes to mind.

Anyone tried to replicate / DIY this micro adj jig ?  [big grin]
I ordered substituted parts, along with fine thread tap to build it. I'm trying to understand how the adj. knob works on the "push" end. Is it spinning freely inside of it, is it threaded all the way ???
Any owners dare to unscrew this part and take couple pictures? that would be a HUGE help...
