Woodpeckers billing but not shipping

Has anyone else had an issue with Woodpeckers billing their credit card but not shipping out the product in a timely fashion?

This wasn't paid for via PayPal or a OneTimeTool purchase. This was an item listed as in stock on their website. My credit card has been charged, and cleared, two weeks ago, but I've not received my product or a tracking number.

This is extremely frustrating, and highly illegal.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Have you called them?  I bought something from them once and didn't get a shipping notification until after my item arrived.

I would call them, it might have got lost in transit.  I've never had any issues with them.

Tried to call today, Saturday, closed until Monday. I'm only a three hour drive away, two weeks seems excessive.

Not had this problem, but my calls to order products or ask questions have all been handled well. Good people.

I would have made contact with them prior to posting this as anyone can make a mistake.

Did they charge the card or is it listed as a pending charge?

The legality of charging for something that hasn't been mailed out yet is subject to state, and possibly federal, regulations.

In some states it's legal to take payment for items that haven't been delivered yet, but the items must be delivered or at least shipped within a certain amount of time. I believe thirty days may be listed in some legislation. If the item cannot be delivered within that time frame the seller must get authorization from the customer for a longer delivery window, or must refund any and all funds that have been paid. This likely will vary by state, and there may be federal consumer or contract laws that may apply as well.

Why?  I'm well aware mistakes happen, I'm in logistics myself. I didn't bash them, I merely asked to see if this was SOP, standard operating procedure, for them.

Tom

It pended for two days and then cleared just as most transactions with this particular card do. They have the money.

A simple call to them or search here would have answered the question about the potential highly illegal activity.

Yes, call them, because they'll certainly tell me that they take part in the practice of charging me and then waiting to ship my products. #fail

Usually when I order something online, I read when the stuff will get shipped and under which conditions I buy the stuff. Have you checked order status at http://www.woodpeck.com/orderstatus/
? As mentioned by people here, you should get first in touch with Woodpeckers. They have on the main site the possibility to e-mail them, to call them and you can check your order status. Asking about your order status on other sites is IMHO just waste of time.

I haven't even relieved an order number from them for this order so I can't use that function on their site.

If a MISTAKE was made they may not be aware of the situation. There is really no reason to come here and complain about it until you CONTACT WOODPECKERS and find out what happened. If you would have searched you would find they don't charge until they are ready to ship. As you are in logistics you should know that with human involvement mistakes may happen.

This lesson I'm trying to convey to you may be helpful to you in life and boils down to this. If you have a problem the first step is to go directly to the source. If a reasonable resolution isn't reached then go to the next level.

Where did I complain?  I simply asked a question.

I did do a search and saw many posts about not billing until items ship, but they were all talking about OneTimeTool orders. This was not a OTT, this was a normal internet order. So it would seem as if SOMETIMES they do bill before they ship because it happened to me on this order.

A call will be placed to them in the morning. I've already set an alarm for it.

You must have mistakenly missed this when quoting me.

"This lesson I'm trying to convey to you may be helpful to you in life and boils down to this. If you have a problem the first step is to go directly to the source. If a reasonable resolution isn't reached then go to the next level."

I'm out.

James, this is a Festool site but it's also a Woodpeckers fanboy site.  Expect to get criticized by the woodpecker fanboys who rationalize and make excuses for anything Woodpeckers does.

I would suggest that in the future you should try to order Woodpeckers products from another supplier that shows the item in stock and not directly from Woodpeckers.  They seem to be long on promise and short on delivery lately.  Plus you'll save money.  Other companies offer their products at a reduced price and free shipping instead of Woodpeckers' full retail with high shipping.  Great products that I really like but IMO the company's service has been lacking for some reason.

I don't think anyone criticized me, but thinking I wasn't smart enough to give them a call first is a bit over the top.

I didn't know others offered WP products. Can you suggest any Greg? I'm all about saving money on exact same products.....with no sales tax (I live in Ohio).

Houston

I'm sharing Gregs take on the situation. The TO in no way bashes Woodpeckers and asks a legit question. There's a couple of threads where folx complain about delivery times and as far as i know Woodpeckers hp doesn't explicitly state that delivery takes more than 2 weeks even when the product shows 'in stock' on their hp. I'd be wondering aloud ,too..
