I had the older model years ago and sold it because I had the same gripes as many: thin base, no locking backer board, two time draining clamps to hold workpiece, thing top plastic guide, and weak plastic top beam (are there more). Took some time for them to listen but this new one seems to answer all the issues the old on had.

That is soooo similar to the UJK version that has been out for some while now. Some identical extrusions etc. I've been very pleased with the UJK one.

Sorry but think you have it reversed the UJK looks more similar in design to the "old" style WP sled.

Sorry, I had to find an image of the old version. Yes the UJK is almost identical to the previous model. I'm still very please with it.
I stuck some cork to the two clamping discs, other than that cannot fault it.

My biggest gripe with the old (current?) one is the clamps; I really wish they moved to a toggle clamp for the new version.  Still 1 knob is better than two.

I've had the original for years and still use it. No real gripes from me. I just use the clamp closer to the cutter, never had to use the second one. Some double sided tape will hold your backup block.

Looking at the images, all the cut ends on the UK version are anodized.  On the USA version, some of the ends are anodized and others show the ends as machined aluminum.  Perhaps the photos were taken of pre-production parts.

Woodpeckers does advertize items for sale before they are actually in production, so this might be the case here.

If the ends are anodized, that means the anodizing was done after machining.  If the ends are not anodized it means that they start with an anodized "stick" (typically 12 to 20 feet long) and they cut it to length.  The cross piece has anodizing on the visible end.  The two vertical pieces do not.
