Hi,

I know at least several people on the FOG have the new Woodpeckers Woodworking Rules.  I was using my 36" rule last night and discovered mis marked fractions on the centering scale side.  Starting from 0 going out to 6" the fractional labels  (1/4", 1/2", 3/4" ) are correct. Then they become reversed counting down from 3/4".  I have called Woodpeckers about it. They said it was not right and are pulling there stock.  They are sending me a replacement after they get them fixed. I would assume any others will be replaced also.  I only have the 36" so Ican't check the other lengths.    Check your before something gets marked wrong and ruins a piece!

I could see it now "I measured twice, cut once then measured twice again and still got it wrong" ??? Somebody get the board stretcher. ;D

Just looked at my 24". Yep, it's screwy. Guess I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for the lookout.

Good Morning,
I have a lot of Woodpecker and Incra products, and I've always been happy with them.
I was just on the Woodpecker Web site and could not find the rule in question.  Can someone provide a link to the rule we're talking about here?
Thanks,
Matthew

Everyone,
Richard Hummel, president of Woodpeckers, is a member of this forum.  He's posted here before.

I just sent Mr. Hummel a note asking him to jump in and comment on this.  I always think it is fair to give the manufacturer an opportunity to get involved when these sorts of questions come up.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Good morning all,
Yes, we discovered the rules have been miss engraved, (stupid mistake). Yes, we will replace all defective product. Please send an email to kareng@woodpeck.com. She can process your replacement. We'll send you a return label with the replacement product. Once you've received it and it meets your expectations, please send bach the defective part. And of course we'll reimburse you for shipping. We might be able to work out a means to have the UPS charges billed direct to us. Not sure on that one. Another idea would be to give you a credit in excess of the shipping charge toward any other Woodpecker product that you might like.

On a side note, I was at a vendor show this week and saw the new Kapex and the 2200 watt router. Very nice. Their new MFT package, which is the only way it's sold right now, has a real nice miter type gauge. Festool does some top notch engineering.

Richard,
Thank you for coming in and answering the question about the rules.  Your products are very popular here (and in my own shop) and it's great to have you as a member of the forum.

Hi,

    These 36" rules .

Hi,

Richard,  I posted this as soon as I could to help others avoid what could be a  costly mistake on a project.  It is great that you  are a member of this forum and able to follow up personally!

Also is it only the 36" rules?  I do not have the other lengths (yet )  to check.

BTW when I called about this I received excellent customer service!   A welcome and rare thing in todays world :)

Rich,

Just edited my originial post for being too flippant. My sympathies are definitely with you, as I am sure are those of your customers.

In fact, just this week, I caught a shipment of return springs for my own product that were the correct length, but were missing a coil which could have resulted in failure down the road if I had not noticed before they started getting assembled.

I do have one friend in particular though that I would love .... never mind.
