Those who are interested in our thin cut stop for the MFT, it is now available. After Meeting Marc Spagnuolo (the Wood Whisperer on YouTube) at our local wood working group, He got one of our stops for his MFT. Look forward to his thoughts on the Woodtalkshow.com podcast.

Now available at Woodrave.com

Could you order 1 with a depth stop twice as long. That way you could use 2 dogs with 1 rod for more accuracy and support?

So you would like 2 Dogs with a single long bar? let me check on the availability of the Stop rod to see about a 12" bar.

Nice job, a pretty elegant solution.  Now, just anodize it red and add a scale on the rod for no apparent reason and you can sell it for three times as much.

In all seriousness, how slick would it be if the rod was able to retract the amount of the blade width...sort of like a click pen.

That would be a nice solution, the costs, and accessibility to machining makes that a challenge. the magnet with shim was the easiest solution and can be dropped into the thumb screw top so it doesn't get lost.

Is it just a standard ¼" rod?

I know a poster brought up 'accuracy' concern in the original thread.
It seems to me that if you run one rod through two dogs, you lose the swing functionality which is part of the design.

If someone is really concerned about accuracy (which would seem to be parallelism in this case) then the solution could be to buy 2 dogs and place one toward each end of the board to be cut.
I don't think you want to trade off the swing function of the design.

Yes you would lose the option of the swing, which for me the accuracy has not been an issue. I guess it depends on the care you take to set up the material. which may add a second or two. I am now offering longer stop rods for those who would like to set it up with they second dog.

It is a 1/4" Tool steel rod. Each rod has a reference ring machined into it so there is no confusion on which side you are measuring from if removed from the table. I am now making 9" and 12" rods available. 9" will probably suit most peoples needs.
