Worth Upgrading from TS 55 REQ to TSC 55 KEB?

I'm tired of hauling my CT36 from the basement to the garage when I want to use my TS 55 so I decided to break down some plywood without the vacuum and made quite a mess with only a few cuts  I noticed most of the dust coming from the rear port and then realized my Dewalt miter saw has a dust bag that fits and works fairly well. 

That said, it made me wonder if the TSC 55 KEB would work better than TS 55 with a bag and could be a reason to upgrade; however, since I rarely use my tools (only 8 sheets of plywood cut in the last 6 years), it makes me wonder if the batteries would go bad before I ever finish all my house projects and therefore the corded model might be better in my case ... what do you think?

Here's a cheaper approach...a number of years ago before i purchased the TSC 55, I converted my TS 55 EQ to use the TSC saw dust bag. Everything still fits inside the Systainer including the dust bag.

Bugs, probably not what you want to hear but I have both and will keep them.  Getting harder to hoist a full sheet around the garage without running into something so I move my wife's car out, lay down some foam board and use the TSC to roughly break things up.  Then move those to my bigger bench with the TS and do the final work.  Costs more I know, but its saving my back a little bit.

Thanks for that advice, this could be a good compromise for the days I don't want to haul the vacuum upstairs.  Out of curiosity, does the TS 55 w/bag collect about as much dust as the TSC 55 w/bag?

I've a single-car garage and don't even park in it because there's so much stuff so I feel your pain.  I've just added a garage heater, am insulating, and tripping over everything.  I hope after all this I can clear it enough to move around easily but it's still just a single-car garage.  I look forward to the day I have a larger garage or pole barn so I can have all my tools in one place where I can move around without tripping over things.

My TS55 has a dedicated D36 hose attached to my CT26, along with another hose for my ETS EC/125 and another for cleanup.  I guess if I needed to get some cash I might but as long as I can keep both, I will.

Ya, I'd say they're comparable for dust collection, it was a TS 55 EQ for reference.

A bonus round is that sometimes I'd get zapped when using the hose and the CT, but when using the bag only, that issue went away.  [smile]

Friends, - the FESTOOL dustbag on the TS 55 saws works very well - just have to rememeber to empty it very soon and often. You'll be amazed how much material the saw spits out in a hurry.

While my 7 year old TS-55 is still working, the newer battery powered saws are reached for first whenever possible - they just keep getting better.

How lazy am I that I don't enjoy plugging my TS 55 into the power cable?

In my shop I have one longer hose with the cord velcro'ed to the hose. It's kind of routed/stuck to my bench area. I have a separate D36 hose regular length, 6m or so, no power. That one I like using for cleanup and there's many times I wish I could just grab a cordless tool to use with it, like the TSC. I value the riving knife too much to pick up a KEB model, though.

Ya maybe the Norton thinks so  [scratch chin]...but I'm still just a motorcycle guy at heart. Maico, Bultaco, HD, Triumph, BSA, Montesa, Vincent, Rickman, Guzzi, Ducati, Penton, Excelsior, Indian, Husqvarna, BMW, AJS, KTM, MV Agusta...they all make me smile. The angle to get the TS55 plugged and snugged is one of the least user-friendly on the tools that I use.  Especially when it's chilly in the shop, I find that I need to release the plunge lock to get a better grip on the plug-it. I don't blame you one bit.
