Would the CMS 110V version form UK work in the US

Hello Everyone,

I am considering to buy two CMS Sytems 110V version from the UK.

Would they work in the US?

It appears from the picture, if I bypass the outlet and connect the tool directly to the outlet I don't need to worry about the electric standards.  Is this correct?

Can anyone elaborate on this, please?  Has anyone brought this before from UK and used it in the US?

I was in the process of buying the CMS from a relative in the UK. Just got too expensive.

From my understanding it should be OK as you are using north America power tool in the frame. I have seen the CMS in the US, set up with TS, so it is possible.

This is correct. If you change the plugs that attach to the switch you'll probably also be able to use the switch.

I am heading to UK soon, and wanted to pick up a CMS unit, but have US style plugs for my festools.

So I am assuming that the switch has a female socket for the power cord to the festool and a wire that connects to the wall outlet.

Switching the outlet plug should not be a problem for use in USA.

But if there is a female plug connected to the festool, and I buy in the UK the 110V CMS versions, what does the female plug look like?

Will it connect to the male US plugs I have here in the USA or do I have to order a male UK cord for a festool in UK?

I have the 240v.   I think the 110v is just the same!    To plug a festool tool into the CMS it has a short cable with a socket  like an extension lead just hanging down under the CMS so not like a wall socket.  So it would be easy for you to cut the socket of and put your own socket onto the lead for you then to just plug your plug into it!  Simple!

Here you go!  Easier to show you a picture.  Im pretty sure the 110v is just the same but with a Big yellow round female end to it instead of the small black square I have what you can see in the picture below.   All you need to just remove that and wire up your own fitting.

Other scenario, just change the whole switch assembly with one you buy here in the states, router table switch. That would do the same, plug goes to wall with receptacle on switch or dongle to plug the router into it.

Your going to need a very big suitcase for all of those bits.
When you buy the CMS you are going to need the sliding table, the side extension table, the rear extension table, the sliding fence not to mention all the different plates to put in the CMS itself

Not really sure about how those NVR switches work, but since the V in NVR means volt and the UK version is made for 110/1120V it should be possible to use it in the US. Someone here who owns a 110V CMS table could perhaps post the numbers printed on the switch. If it is made for 50/60 Hz, only 50 or any Hz.

As I understand it by the way it is probably no problems running UK 110V power tools in the US and vice versa given the type of electric engines. Thus people in Europe can run American one phase power tools just using a British CEE transformer 240 to 120V, also being able to use proper wiring since there is a special version of the European standard CEE outlets, the yellow ones. Blue is 240V, and red is 380V.

An NVR switch made for UK 110VAC/50Hz use should work fine on US 120VAC/60Hz.

The only voltage-sensitive component in an NVR switch is a small relay/contactor. These generally have a very wide input range of voltage/frequency.

If they are electrically compatible, you could probably get away with simple plug adaptors, like the ones meant for travelling -- assuming the adaptors are rated for the amount of power that is being sent through them...

But, why would you bother with using adaptors? It's not like it's a temporary setup. Just cut the UK 110V plug & socket off, and connect the wires to a US plug & trailing socket...

What a great site!!! I stumbled upon it doing a google search on just about this topic. Are their european dealers who will ship such products to the U.S? Or do you have to actually bring it back as luggage?
Been reading through all the great posts here. I would love one of those Precision set ups.

A wealth of information at my finger tips 24/7!!! Hopefully I can offer a little bit as well once I get a little more aquatinted with this forum.
I do mainly hardwood floor installations, sand & finish and refinishes for a living. Some small trim jobs now and then. The Festool track saw has saved me hours of work cutting in straight inlay border work = )

VAT is refunded to us Yanks if we ask for it back (with receipts of course)  isn't it?  If that's the case, it may be worth it to just fly over for a couple of days to purchase and arrange shipping if more than a couple of folks wanted to go in onsomething like that..
