I really like my Dowelmax.  It's very accurate and although not as speedy as the Domino, it's still pretty quick.  It's also a third of the cost of the Domino and for most hobbiests, it makes a pretty good alternative.

I have both the Domino machine and the DowelMax. If I want as precise as possible edge joining for a flat top I use the DowelMax. Love this tool and it's precision. Not as fast but has some advantages.
