It’s my understanding than there is a “plate” for the 500 and another “plate” for the 700. At least, it was that way when I bought mine. Has their product changed?
Since the answer is yes, will the plate work the exact same way on the 700 as it does on the 500? Or is there something that needs to be modified on the 700 and/or Domiplate to make the 700 center on 1/2” and 3/4” thick material?
I have a Seneca Domiplate and also picked up a FC Domino Centering Solution.https://karpenter.co.uk/product/fc-dsc/. The FC DCS is similar to the Domiplate, but sized for metric measurements. Seeing as how most of our plywood comes in metric thicknesses, I figured it would be a better choice for centering Dominos in plywood. Also having switched to metric as much as possible, it seemed to be a better choice.
The FC DCS is two sided like the Domiplate, but also comes with 1.5mm and 2mm shims so you are able to center on a wider range of board thicknesses. It fits on both the Domino and the Domino XL just like the Domiplate. It runs a bit more, 90£ vs $65. And there’s shipping costs as well. Im happy with mine and much prefer it over the Domiplate.
Keep in mind that the Domino slots are bored at an offset of 10mmfrom the baseplate of the machine while the Domino XL has an offset of 15mm. The Domiplate and the FC DCS both register on the baseplate. If you have the XL and you use a plate designed for the Domino, the the slot will be 5mm further from that reference face than what the plate indicates it to be.
