As seneca is sold out of them I want to make my own. Can someone tell me how thick the Domi shim is for 3/4" material on the XL-700? Thanks for the help.

I got measurements ranging from 5.87 to 5.94 mm depending where I measured on the 3/4' plate.

The 1/2" plate measured from 9.10 to 9.14.

I was using a Starrett 799 digital micrometer.

I have note on the Domi-Shim box to set the fence at 15mm.

Hope this helps.

It's not really all that critical that you match the dimensions exactly. You can always adjust your math to compensate, or, if you're like me, just eyeball it in a scrap.

I made my own out of 1/2" polycarbonate so I could see the center line normally.

Thanks for taking the time to do that for me. I Just got it on Monday and it is the coolest tool I ever bought. Sure makes it simple to get a great even joint.

I know a lot of people feel the need to center the tenons in a thickness of wood, but this isn't absolutely necessary as long as you reference the proper sides when cutting the mortises. Just something to think about in case you want to wait till Seneca has more in stock. I think Half Inch Shy or the Wood Whisperer have videos out that deal with the issue of centering or not centering.

I made a plate of bamboo flooring that I milled to 10 mm.  I did a post on it: message (or post) 386691.  Not as nice as the clear one posted here in some ways but more to my liking for the way that I work, as I explain in the message.
