I love the idea of the MFT, however I don't need the portability, and I wanted one that was bigger and more sturdy, so I built my own.  I used the rails and top from the MFT/3 then built a nice sturdy base out of 4x4s.  Its the same width as the MFT/3, but about 50% longer which fits in my shop perfectly.  I also added some drawer trays to the underside for my systainers (although I still need to make some more).  The last thing I did was to mount my lunchbox planer on the other on a slider system, so that I can quickly and easily flip that up into place when I want to use it.  Here are some pictures, and a quick overview video.  I did film when I was making it, so if anyone wants to see it I'll put that up too.

Holy friggin acronym.  Table looks solid!  More details or photos on the planer "stand".  It'll hold up to all that weight when it's flipped outta the way?  Those puppies ain't light.

Well done.  I built my own MFT-style workbench, since I also did not need portability.  I wish that Festool sold the rail material in long lengths.  My bench is 36" X 84" -- I basically milled a full sheet of MDF, with the width and length decreased by 12" each to better allow the bench to fit my basement shop.

I use the bench as the outfeed table for my table saw, and will build a cart for my planer to roll up to the table for the same purpose.

The slides that the planer is on are massive, they are from an old hard disk drive.  And I don't mean an old 3.5" PC hard drive, I mean one from a mainframe in the 80s, it was quite massive.  The struts that I have holding up the planar are a little flimsy, I might upgrade them at somepoint.  Although they seem to work quite well as is.

Here is a quick detailed video of the planer:

I love your bench, and the planer storage is fantastic! How is your dust collection with that planer. I have a similar one, and no matter what I do I still get a lot of dust/shavings that don't make it into my 4" dust collection hose.

The dust collection works quite well for me. I've got a Clearvue CV1800 though, which pulls a ton of air and that may help.

I'll give a shameless plug for my review of the planer, and at about 5:30 you can see I run a board through it and the dust collector gets everything.

They do sell the rails in 2m length, Festool No. 496824...
Maybe NAINA...

I just did a search through Google and in the UK the cheapest by far is at the end of this link:

http://www.mtmc.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductID=40766&source=googlebase&gclid=Cj0KEQjwuI-oBRCEi87g0K3O8OoBEiQAb25WAR8Gp5-thBJvTkVlC5bkzqOZxYK8WAzZkssaQd0mK8oaApHR8P8HAQ

They sell for £139.99 for two 2m lengths compared to all the others at over £200.
