Just wanted to pass along to those in Northern Delaware, Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey regions that Mr. Robert's Lumber near Barrington, New Jersey is having their yearly hardwood sale which will continue until February, 2.

the discounts run from about 10% to 20+%. I stopped over today and they had mighty nice wood. They even had a slab pod old, old growth SA Mahogany about 4' wide, 20/4, about 20' long. Price, ~3800. This thing would make a perfect, single piece conference table top. If I had 3800 sitting around, I would buy it, just because.

Anyway, I picked up a copy of the price list and Will get it scanned and uploaded by Tuesday, for those interested.

the usual disclaimers, yada, yada, yada...

Update...

I uploaded the sale price list.  Hurry, the sale ends Saturday.

Thanks - I have wanted an excuse to drop by there but could never decide, based on their limited website, if it was worth the time. Sounds like it is.

I am sorry for the delay folks, but I just received the email from Mr. Roberts' yearly hardwood sale. It starts either today or tomorrow; I am away from the office.

If you live within a few hundred miles of this place, you should get here early for the best selection. In years past, the cars, trucks and trailers were lined up down the block waiting for the doors to open.

I have purchased hardwoods from Mr. Roberts' and the quality and selection were terrific.

Good luck!

I goofed.  The sale was NOT just this past weekend, but the entire month of January.

Here is a zipped spreadsheet of the pricing.

Good luck.

They have a nice selection , but even the sale prices are still high .  4/4 curly maple is $9.50 bf even with 20% off its no bargain .

I can't argue your point, but in this vast woodworking supplier wasteland of South Jersey, it's not bad.

They have a sheet of quarter sawn red oak veneered plywood, as a display, offering sheets for special order at $165.00. Ouch!

I hate to sound like I am spamming the forum but if you guys need plywood like that or lumber give me a pm. I'll sell you anything I have or can get for much less. My 4/4 curly soft maple starts at $5.50 bf  , 10"and wider is $7.25.just some examples. Im a cabinet shop down in swedesboro.

Now that sounds like something a lot of us in this area could use.  When we want something, -we, being those I have chatted with-, head out to Reading, PA.  To make the trip cost reasonable, we, at least I, purchase more than needed at that moment.

I guess you source your sheetgoods from Fessenden Hall?  I tried years ago but with no store front operation, they said go elsewhere.

And Swedesboro is just down the road.  A long way down the road, but down the road nonetheless.  [cool]

Thanks for posting.

I dont deal with fessenden hall . I buy sheet goods from Russell Plywood , they have a location over in Delaware . They don't sell to the pubic in case your wondering .  I usually don't keep much extra plywood around , maybe a sheet or two .

Rather than start another thread on the same tooic, I thought I would just update this one.

I called Mr. Roberts Lumber and their yearly sale begins this Saturday,  01/03/2015, and runs through the end of the month. While some think the prices at Mr. Roberts are high, as I noted elsewhere, they are my closest source for materials, so, I takes what I can get, sometimes.

Anyway, their sale prices are about 15%-25% off the normal price. They have a nice selection of hardwoods, and some very pretty exotics. If you have an extra 3-4 grand in your pocket, and they have not yet sold it, the have, or at least they had..., an amazing slab of solid African Mahogany, 4" plus thick, about 36 inches wide, about 16-18 feet long.

If this year is like the past, the line down the street forms early and the warehouse will be packed. While they do restock during the sale, the best pieces go fast and go early.

The usual disclaimers apply, no affiliation,  yada, yada, yada.

Once I get over there, I will get a price list so I can scan it in and then post it here.

For those within driving distance of Southern New Jersey and want a reason to leave the New Years Eve party early, here's your excuse. ;)

I'll piggy back on this old thread by announcing that the 2016 Sale at Mr. Roberts lumber in Barrington, NJ begins this Saturday, 1/1/2016.

If I get over there soon enough, I will grab a copy of the their price list and scan it in so I can post it here.

As in past year, the usual disclaimers apply.

Thanks for the heads up and if it weren't over 3000 miles away, I might be tempted to rush in [big grin]

Thanks for the heads up (again), I took a chance and emailed them to see if they would send me the price list in advance. Will post it if they do.

Unfortunately I will be in the Carolina's for the first few days of the sale, please leave me a few scraps for when I return...  [not worthy]

I once attempted to go there on the opening day of the sale, bad idea.  The line was up the street for a couple of blocks. (I'm certain they are just loved by their neighbors). ;)

I usually wait a few days because most of my needs are the usual; cherry, maple, walnut, etc...  All of which are, usually, restocked during the sale.  This year however, I also need some teak (building a 9' eat at counter/bar), and they do not have any.  [crying]

Good luck.
