It's funny how useful a little bit of scrap hardwood and solid surface can combine with a little bit of knowledge to create durable outdoor furniture.

This was the first solid surface project I worked on since the Festool class on fabricating SS.  I built the top and set it aside until I had the occasion to build the table base.  I do believe class help solidify some techniques that are in the end more productive in my day to day fabrication work.

Nice looking table Chris.  I haven't had a chance to do a SS project since attending the class.  This looks like a good  long term useful project.  Redwood is a great outdoor wood.  My granddaughter is the lucky recipient  of a 7 year old redwood swing set that originally cost  $4000.  We found it on Facebook for $200 plus you had to haul it away.  We had to take it apart.  Lots of 4 x 4, some 4 x 6, some 2 bys, etc.  This stuff was in great  shape after 7 years.  It should easily last another 12 years.  Redwood is worth the money if you can find it

Chris,

Really nice combo of materials.  Looks really good.

You must have an amazing looking wife to have such adorable kids.  [big grin]

Ken, I stole those kids from the local shopping center, I find that we get a much better selection as far as appearances go when you get to pick.  [wink]. Just kidding.  Sophie is mine the other kid is my shopmates kid.  But thanks.

Dr Muller, that is "Brazilian" redwood, or Massaranduba.  The material is very dense and quite red in it's natural color.  I had some extra material from a deck job I did and held on to it for a small table design.

I never thought to cross check the pictures on here with milk cartons.  [tongue]

Looks great Chris!
I haven't worked with solid surfaces so it's good to know the class would be a good to take.
That picture has all the makings of a great ad, cute kids and mischievous looking puppy dog.
