[size=13pt]What do you think of this advert?
[size=10pt]SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has been accused of vilifying Americans by portraying them in a Christmas television ad as “gaudy, pushy people”.
Aldi Australia was hauled before the Advertising Standards Board to answer a bizarre complaint about the quirky commercial which centred on a super enthusiastic American family called The Tinkletons.
In it the Tinkletons, clad in Christmas attire, run amok through a house of “normal” Australians throwing decorations and singing. The Americans are convinced their Christmas is better than Australia’s but they are up against perfect Aussie weather, backyard barbies, days at the beach and seafood feasts.
The complainant told the Advertising Standards Board: “This is highly offensive to any American. The Americans are portrayed as … weird while the Australians are apparently the normal ones wearing conventional clothing and neutral appearance. As an American I take offence at the way we are portrayed ... The ad demonises an entire nationality and culture … to sell groceries.”
The board ruled that the commercial did not breach the advertising code and dismissed the complaints.

I agree with the Australian Advertising Standards Board. It's just some Fun, and very different from the two main competitors who presented famous chefs giving quick Christmas recepies under/over a jingle.
However after reading opinions in today's Australian press both in support and against the Board's decission, I am wondering what some who actually live in NA might think.?
