In the Classified section there is a discussion of the payment system, Zelle. In a quick online search, I found the comment below. I think I will wait awhile before jumping into this system.

Many of you report problems with Zelle deliveries and — worse — poor to no customer support to sort out the chaos.

Not to mention services like Zelle (and TransferWise, etc.) offer nothing to speak of in terms of fraud protections for buyers (or sellers) . I'll stick with PayPal's 180 day comprehensive coverage thank you very much.

I think that post in classifieds is not what that section is meant for and shold be removed as spam. It's mere advertising for an external service, and very questionable. No idea what that guy is thinking for posting it.

I will not delete that thread.  The classifieds are a non-moderated area. But I have posted a message in that post linking to this thread - not as moderation - but rather as an aid whereas very few are enabled to post a replay in a classified thread.  My posting there should NOT be viewed as moderation.

Gracious Gee Whiz Guys - I didn't mean to rile you all up.
Being a first time FOG CLASSIFIED's seller - Working with a first time FOG CLASSIFIED's buyer -
We were looking for a "no cost", easy way to quickly effect our transaction -
Transferring funds thru our different, (but both) national banks.

Each looking to our own banks - We found out that Zelle (according to our banks) -
Is a U.S. based digital payments network owned by Early Warning Services, a private financial services company -
Which is owned by the banks: Bank of America, BB&T, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, PNC Bank, US Bank, Citibank and Wells Fargo.
Apparently, Zelle has replaced what were their own individual, proprietary P2P $$ Transfer programs.

I called my guy - An officer at my local U.S. Bank - And he told me that he has personally been using Zelle -
To make car payments, rent payments, pay his electric bills, and a variety of other personal bills -
As well, as sending $$$ to his grand kids for spending money.
He then helped me set up my own Zelle-U.S. Bank connected application.
My buyer, who had a checking account at his Chase Bank did the same thing - Setting up his Zelle-Chase Bank application On-Line.
The $1,000 funds transfer for the hand planes I sold to him - Was quick and easy - And worked flawlessly.

I use PayPal to buy stuff all the time. But... I must also say that -
During the last two weeks - I've attempted to use PayPal - To buy airline tickets On-Line -
For two separate trips - From two different national carriers.
I buy a lot of airline tickets - On-line - So I've got plenty of experience doing it.
Given the payment choice - I tried to pay with PayPal both times - And both carriers systems "hung".
I finally had to pay for the tickets using my MasterCard directly.
I'm just guessing - But I'll bet those airlines do a lot more business On-Line - Than the FOG's Classified section.

So Here's The Deal:

I hope that answers: "... what that guy is thinking for posting it".
And NO. I'm definitely NOT "advertising" for Zelle. If you don't like it - Don't use it.
I couldn't care less what anyone uses to transact their business:
PayPal, Zelle, hand written checks; or even rocks.[wink] To each his own.

My buyer and I found something that worked great for our transaction -
And I was simply trying to pass on to fellow FOG members another way to conduct business.
Personally - Going forward - If I'm selling or buying something in the FOG Classified section -
I'll continue to use the vehicle the buyer/seller thinks is the best way we both can agree on.

Thx for your patience and letting this discussion happen.

To begin with I dont have any personal stake in Zelle or any other payment system.
I dont know why people are getting so upset about this service.  It is meant only for transferring money between friends, people that you trust.  Not much different from Paypal friends and family option-- which I know a lot of people on this forum and other woodworking forums use. There is no protection offered by Paypal's friends and family, neither does Zelle.  Or for that matter Venmo which is Paypal's own mobile version works very similar to Zelle.
I was surprised to discover that Wells Fargo (where I bank) has the Zelle option enabled in their mobile app.  I am sure lots of other bank's mobile app will have it too. (i just did a web search and found out that Bank of America, BB&T, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, PNC Bank, US Bank, Citibank and Wells Fargo.are all Zelle supporting banks).
I want to thank Joe Felchlin to bring it to everyone's attention as another payment option, an alternate to paypal's friends and family.
