Zobo Forstner Bits... Yay or Nay?

I am UK based and have this set and all I can say is they are superb... the cut is sooo clean and these things are damm sharp (I should know, I slipped and sunk one into my big fleshy thumb muscle... bloody hurt!!)

Best drill bits I have ever used!

What makes them so special to other cutters?

JMB

they cut a cleaner hole than your estwing

Ha you back from your Holliday!

silly billy!   My Estwing makes a lovely hole in plaster board!

I have one trend one  does the job I know it aint mint but I hardly use it any way but its a lot cheaper as well.

Is this a trick question Shane?  ???

Would we want them yes!!!  [big grin]

Don't need them every day but would like them in the tool kit.

Cheers,
Steve

Shane,
Can you tell us why they are 5 times more expensive than other quality forstners?  I'd hope they are solid carbide at those prices.

these look cool but the price just takes the biscuit. i thought the fomag and colt etc were dear . these festool ones make them seem disposable.  i bought a set of 15 -20 for 70 euro a few years ago , they are still going strong albe it not as good as the more expensive set.

Yes, we have customers who are looking for metric Forstner bits from time to time.

I have them. They are very good. They are very expensive. I probably shouldn't have bought them. I hope my wife doesn't read this.

(how familiar does this sound?)

YES!!!!  Hmm if Festool would only offer C15, Centotec set, and Zobo as a set this fall I would be all set…

Shane, does that extra bit in the case fit into the center of the bits?  Either way who cares.  Just get them here and I figure it out myself.

The Zobo bits can be used with a regular twist pilot bit or a metal point.  The twist pilot bit can be extended do the bits can be used on an angle.  I have a set of these and while I haven't used them much I can tell you they are first rate Forstner style bits.

The pilot bit 'extendability' makes this kit worth the crazy price... I would imagine the pilots would be prone to snapping while drilling on extreme angles- any experience on this Brice?
