There's never been a better time to upgrade to the Planex and leave your competition in the dust.  [big grin]

During the month of February 2014 (so starting in about a week), you can get 10% off on the Planex, all related accessories and abrasives, the TP 220 Wallpaper Perforator, and CT 36 AutoClean accessories. If you buy the Planex with the CT 36 AC, you get an automatic package discount on the dust extractor normally. There's no additional discount on the package savings for the CT 36 AC.

Head over to our Planex website to score your personalized 10% off coupon code to present to your participating Festool dealer between 2/1 and 2/28. If you're buying online, no coupon code is necessary.

This is a promotion available only in the U.S. and Canada. I'm sure some of our dealers represented on the forum will be participating.

That's $200 or so off our catalog price when you buy them together with some abrasives and maybe the soft pad set. Be sure to spread the word to all of your buddies, but not your competitors!  [wink]

For those of you that already have a Planex, it's a good time to stock up on abrasives or maybe add an extension, the soft pad set, the harness or some accessories or liners for your CT.

Remember, there's a 30 day money back guarantee on the tools, less shipping fees when applicable (if you buy online, for instance). So, you can give it a test drive for yourself that's risk free.

Here is a very cool video I shot of the inside of the CT36 AutoClean in action.
Such an awesome machine.

Can the Planex be used to remove acoustic texture (popcorn) on ceilings?  I have removed the texture in two rooms of our home using pump-up sprayer to soak with water, and then using wide knife to scrape off the texture.  So far, doing two small rooms, it has not been too bad.  But our master bedroom is about 600 square feet (55 sq. meters), and has vaulted ceilings.  The thought of hand scraping this much ceiling, and need scaffolding to boot, is not to appealing.  If the Planex were a good solution, I'd consider getting one just for our remodeling, especially with the sale going on.

I am a hobbyist woodworker, so I've never really looked into the Planex.  (I just got my first Festool, the TS 55 REQ, a few months ago.) And I am not a drywall guy, although I've learned to tape and sand repairs, and do some texture touch-up.  My plan would be to get the ceilings ready to texture, and get a professional in to complete the job.

Thanks for any advice!

Ha, you beat me to it. That was my first job with the planex, a painted popcorn ceiling. I would say if it hasn't been painted then knock off all the big stuff with a big floor scraper first.
Just be aware that popcorn texture has been known to contain asbestos so it is important to get it tested before doing any sanding.

copcarcollector,

Thanks for the video of removing the texture -- just amazing!   I showed my wife, and she immediately noted that there is no mess!  We have so much to do that I can justify the expense of the Planex just to do our home remodel. I thought my second tool would be the Domino, but looks like maybe a Planex now.  [smile]

Saskataper, no paint on our texture -- we are original owners of the home.  Fortunately our texture is non-asbestos.  You mention floor scraper, but I'm not familiar.  Is this a standard tool for drywalling?  I'm  picturing a large putty knife on a broom handle!

LEER - Not my video but glad it helped you! I have no need whatsoever for a Planex.... and I am considering buying one too!!  ::)

Hope your remodel goes well..

And yeah, pretty much a large putty knife on a handle, though stiffer on the end I would imagine!

is there a new generation of the planex coming out?

Good point Jake. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but is there a reason for the discount? Is it national sheetrock month or something?  [tongue]

I'm somewhat surprised at this 10% discount sale.  I recall suggesting about maybe a year or two ago if more of the 10% off sales were ever coming back and was advised that there likely would never be any and that efforts were directed in other areas for promo purposes.  Nice to see it back.  Will this foreseably happen sooner rather than later again?  :)

I'm a sucker for a sale, and while I had a Planex on my long range radar, I just may buy one now rather than when i really need it which wouldn't be for a couple of years maybe.  Should I buy one, I'm sure I'll find a project to use it on.  :-[

Is the Replacement Dust Extractor Hose for Planex LHS 225, 11-1/2-ft - 496972 included in the sale?

While I believe it was unintentionally excluded, it is excluded nonetheless. Sorry.

No biggie as it would only be like $15 difference.
I just wanted to make sure I had all my ducks in a row before I pulled the trigger as this is going to be my biggest festool purchase yet. :)

Thanks for the reply Shane!

Everyone, just a reminder that our Planex promotion will end tomorrow.

So, if you're on the fence, you may want to consider moving on it now.

If you have one, you may want to stock up on some supplies while they're discounted.
