10 year anniversary for Domino

From my calculations this is the 10 year anniversary for the Domino. Curious if any promotions, events or other similar things might be planned?

It is even more astonishing that no one has broken the patent and you still can't find a knock-off at Harbor Freight. At $1 000.00 +, this defies the logic of globalization that has institutionalized patent infringement and corrupted any semblance of protected intellectual property.

Perhaps the simple answer to your question is that Festool is reluctant to call attention to itself by any kind of laudatory celebration of the ten year anniversary of this game changing tool, an engineering marvel.

I don't pretend to know all the marvels and mysteries of the Domino either. I do think for as "revolutionary" as it is some improvements or accessories would be good to see. And the timing would be good marketing for the company. I am not a fan of "limited edition" items but if it was genuine and made sense then that could work as well.

Yes indeed. However late breaking news is that the systainer color of the special edition is pink and Festool soon will introduce, its new spokesperson, Ana White. This being a fundamental move to capture 50%+ of the population. Dominos in this special editions will be called Dominixes and will be in assorted pastels.  The flame decals mentioned above are in fact angel wings.

Maybe it means that there are more cost effective ways to accomplish the same end result, and not everyone is willing to shell out over $1000 for a glorified dowel jig, even though I am one of those who did.  [huh]

Yes, I know there are probably a whole slew of things with the Domino that you can't with dowels or other joinery methods, I'm just saying that Man built furniture and many other things long before the Domino existed, so they're not essential and you're not a sub-par woodworker if you don't have one.

A voucher was considered, but marketing figured customers would appreciate the flame decal a little more.  They are, of course, Festool green flames.

I think the speed and accuracy of the domino is hard to beat. Yes there are a slew of ways to get the job done but with a hand held tool, again, can't be beat.

You guys missed it. There was 10% Domino sale to commemorate the Domino anniversary. It was introduced in the US two years after it was introduced in Europe though.  [tongue]

Arrogate for US to assume special attention, I know.

We're all on an island here and whatever floats over from Europe is what we get. The great Festool gyre!

Maybe that gyre will churn up something cool though.

Nothing is planned, but that's a fun idea. We won't do a promotion around it ... but I'm always looking for a good excuse to eat cake.
