Over the next couple of days 100,000,000 people are expected to be affected by the massive storm coming up the East coast from the South here in the US.  That will include lots of Foggers. Rest easy.  We will be here and Members will be standing by to help you over your weather woes.

Hang tough Foggers!

Yeah, having our second ice event in the last few weeks in Charleston, sc. Our main bridge (the Ravenel) has been shut down multiple times not just due to icy road conditions, but from falling ice!

The South is not really set up to deal with this type of weather.  We've been lucky, and our town, cities, mayors, have been really proactive in gettin the word out to stay home.

Stay safe everyone.

Keep us updated on the Virginia portion of the storm.  I am leaving for Disney on Friday and hopefully a long drive isn't even longer because of the weather.

Atlanta has a good bit of snow. We ended up with about 4.5" and only 1 or 2 lanes are opening when you get to the 85/75 merge in Atlanta. Today(Thur) should reach 40 and Friday will reach the mid 50s. They have not been salting for whatever reason. Instead they are plowing and putting down sand. If you are traveling at night expect black ice. Friday will also see wind gusts up to 25mph.

Stay safe. Use http://www.511ga.org to get up to the minute traffic information and you can view the traffic cameras. You can also dial 511 within Georgia and get traffic updates as well as request Hero units if you are stranded.

Virginia is a strange winter storm state.  Interstate 95 is normally the dividing line with worse weather to the west and better to the east.  Except last week of course.  You shouldn't have any issues for your drive.  Weather here was less of an issue than Northern VA due to a changeover to freezing rain and then rain.

So right now we have had about six inches of snow, then sleet, then freezing rain followed by rain.  6 inches compressed to 4 inches with a hard crust.  Forecast calls for snow redeveloping later with 1 to 3 expected possibly mixed with rain.

Temps are expected to be in the low to mid 40's  so once you get past Northern VA you should be past the nasty stuff in VA.

I just looked at JR's Toyota in the driveway and it has about 8-9 inches on top, and it looks like the break in weather we've been told about is here. Guess it's time to dress and go out to clean the cars and driveway.

16" just east of Dulles Airport, and now it's freezing rain, adding to the mess.  It's now 33° and I can't wait to see what happens when the temperature drops with rain on snow/slush.  Got a crock pot of chili on and beer in the fridge.  I'm not going anywhere other than walking my dog.

US 13 down Virginia's Eastern Shore is fine, with possible restrictions on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, such as no campers or roof racks.

I'm not far from you, Sparky.... on the south side of Dulles.

I had to shovel a path so our beagle could take care of things.  [laughing]

Shees guys! Give our winter back! You're hogging all the good stuff and leaving us with no snow and +2C sleet up north ;-P

Its supposed to be 80F in San Diego this weekend. I'd prefer cooler weather...but dont get me wrong I'm not complaining!
Kind thoughts to those braving the storm.

65 F here in the SF Bay Area  [wink]
looks like we/re gonna get more rain here this weekend , we need it  [sad]

75 degrees yesterday in the Livermore area getting a little cooler today may dip all the way down to 65 degrees.  Sure wish we would get some rain though our water reservoirs are getting pretty empty.

We have 83 right now - got to 85 earlier. We could sure use some rain also...

I'd like to see some rain too, that would mean it's above freezing and we'd get rid of some snow and ice.

I'm also in Arizona, and we'll need to keep the doors open for the Cub Scouts during their Pinewood Derby workshop this weekend.  Over 85 degrees in my area... Not to rub it in for those back East.  I did some training in Philadelphia for a few years - so my heart is out there for ya.

You folks got the storms that dumped over 24" on us in central Oregon last week.  Took 3 days to dig out and now with warmer temperatures there's flooding.  Seems a dip in the jet stream in the mid-US is pushing these storms south so they pick up more moisture from the Gulf and get pretty ferocious once they get to the East Coast.  Used to live in Atlanta--4 or 5 inches of snow in the forecast and every roll of toilet paper in town would be sold.  Still not sure why...
