1010 or 1400 with Microfence Circle Jig?

I am wondering if anyone has used the Microfence Circle Jig with the OF1010. I called Microfence to get this jig for the OF1010 and they mentioned that the 1400 might be a better router as the bit is centered between the rails of the jig on the 1400 but on the 1010 the bit is not centered. Will that make a difference? I am trying to route some circular grooves on my substrate and then use the Micro adjustment to move the radius up and down and cut the inlay materal with that so it is a perfect fit.

I don't think that being centered on the rails is particularly important until you get down to very small circles and even then I doubt it's critical. Maybe easier to swing but that's about it. The festool jig is offset, so are the jigs from just about everyone else like Jasper. It's simply an offset from pin to bit, nothing more.

I have both the OF1400 and OF1010 and each is permanently fixed to a MicroFence circle jig.

They are both awesome and I never had an issue with what they are stating. If you can only have one of the routers yes go with the OF1400.

If you already have an OF 1010 I still would get the MicroFence jig.

The only thing I have ever found as good as the MicroFecne jig for matched radii is my CNC machine. And I said as good, not necessarily better than the CNC.

When you get to really small circles you need to change setups with the MicroFence anyway.

I have both the 1010 and 1400. My preference is 1010 as it is lighter and smaller but I do plan on very small circles too. The other option I have is the Bosch colt.

Then go for it. You can always get the additional piece to make the MicroFence work with both routers.

When I was routing 3/4" Ply  the oF1400 was much faster and made better cuts as I could not stand making so many passes with the OF1010. For smaller circles the OF1010 is fine, once I hit about 36" diameter the OF1010 is just a pain.

Heck, I would prefer to get an OF2200 so I could just make one pass.

The Microfence stuff is top quality and works as advertised and I used the jig to route perfect circles.  As Nick stated, I would get the extra mounting plate so that you can use the set-up with every router -- cheaper to get it all in one shipment.
