Drilling 1,200 holes.

Not sure how you are planning on doing the drilling, but CMT makes a 5 spindle drilling head on 32mm spacing. About $300.00. But a time saver.

The CMT is an add on the their hinge boring jig, you need the hinge boring jig to mount the multi spindle to (I own both).

The reason I really like the CMT is the single drive spindle, you can use it in a drill press or with a hand drill. To make the 5 spindle work you have to swap out the heads.

That one is. I don’t think that the 5 spindle is. I think it is mostly intended for a drill press.

As I stated, I own both. The 5 spindle you posted must be installed on the base that the hinge boring head comes on. If the head was not installed on the base there would be nothing to keep it aligned to the fence or prevent the head from spinning.

Either can be used in a drill press or with a hand held drill. I find it takes more force to use the hinge boring head by hand due to the material we drill into (hard maple or oak primarily), than it takes to drill the pin holes into pre-finished maple plywood.

The picture of the rear of the head shows the alignment pin and one of the mounting bolts in place.
