So I've been wondering for a while now why my left hand and right hand doors were always leaving a different reveal at the top. And I finally found the problem today as I was mortising out some hand pulls for pocket doors. The center of the collet is not centered on the collar. And yes I tried different collars and different bits. I guess I'm sending it in for service. Anyone else ever had this problem? Not only that, but I'm going to have to send in my kapex for the second time for the exact same issue as before (leaking grease out of the head and it won't move up on it's own). Frustrating.

I'm not sure I understand exactly the problem, by collar do you mean copy ring/guide bushing?

Hi!

Are you using the Centering mandrel 492187 ? That is a must for copying rings.

Hopefully in the future Festool will include the centering mandrel in the box with the router, as it is a necessary tool for mounting copy rings.
A quick fix, which I've used in the past, is to use a bit bit matching the inside diameter of the copy ring. Later, I obtained a centering mandrel in a bushing kit from Leigh.
I've had this issue , although slight, with my OF1400, and it IS frustrating to find out there is a centering issue after the damage is already done.

I actually found out about the centering mandrel right after I posted my problem. It's funny because I've used the porter cable router for years and never had to center my bits on the guides. It was just perfect out of the factory. It was not a plunge router though, could this be the difference?  I have a few of the metric template guides and these work fine with the mandrel. However for all my jigs I'm set up to use a 51/64" guide so I use the guide bushing adapter that came with the router. It's a plastic insert that has no play in it, so I cannot center the guide on the bit. Is there another option out there (where's my imperial template guides Festool!?) or do I have to make 50 new jigs?

Leigh Jigs makes a guide bush adapter number 704R for the 1010 that can be centered with the centering mandrel.
