2 Systainer Deep Sysport ...

Has anyone built a sysport where each sliding shelf will hold two systainers deep?  Any thoughts on your experience or tips would be very much appreciated. 
 
Yes, completed mine several weeks ago. A great space saver for me, and aides in accessing my tools without much trouble. The way i arranged my systainers theres room for 14 systainers. The fact that I can move it about allows me to have access from all sides of the table top. The work top sits on the cabinet and held in place with wood blocks. I can easily remove it grab the leg set and go should I need to use the top on site. The slides are full extension, rated for the anticipated load and have been functioning fine. I had room for a couple of pull out drawers which hold extension cords, clamps tool boxes, etc. The overall work top height is slightly higher than the original MFT, however I prefer that for my style of work.

Very nice - I liked what you did in regards to placing labels on the drawers to know what is in each.  I was thinking of maybe making my stationary and using it for outfeed for the kapek when I get that.

Just a question ... I am very new to the LR32 system (just bought the kit last week).  I have seen where the single drawer sysports have the holes but I am imagine that with the double wide I will have to drill more in the middle - is that correct?  How many columns of holes did you use?
 
For side by side you may need to use shorter screws as the holes if drilled on both sides in 20mm ply will be thru.  You can get shorter 5mm screws and they work fine.
 
This one looks great - awesome design and use of space. Would love to see plans if you have them. Also, what casters did you use?
 
Jcwoodshop- yes what a great design!
Mddharma- I went much simpler...leftover qswo, case sitting on a shelf underneath, w/28" full ext. glides. Whole thing is heavy enough to not move easily but can be pulled forward to provide a ledge to set material on and front clamp and allows for small storage on top. Be sure to leave enough room between (top/bottom) for the latch to be left in unlocked position...on my two drawer side, if mine aren't locked the latch gets knocked off.

No ... I used 3/4" Birch Plywood sides, top, and bottom, 1/4" MDF back. Edge band with hot melt adhesive backed banding on exposed edges. My reason for choosing plywood was I wanted extra holding power for the slide screws. I used 6 screws for each slide into the cabinet walls and the same number into the draw sides. The slides are full extension with a 100# rating. (A little heads up: the ratings giving by the manufacturers I looked into were: 100# at 18" extension.) The drawers where made with 1/2" Poplar sides and back, 3/4 Poplar fronts, 1/2" plywood bottoms. I also ran a "divider" from side to side to add stiffness and extra bottom support. Drawer bottoms were routed, with 4 depressions, to capture the feet under the systainer boxes; that keeps them from moving around and also minimizes the height of the cabinet.

I left my LR32 in its box this time. I've used it before and love it, however for this build, to minimize clearance between systainer tops and tray bottoms, the slides were space to achieve minimum clearance. But your right about using additional slide support. I used 6 screws for each slide into the cabinet and 6 screws into each drawer side.

If I had used a common wall for side by side systainers that would have been a concern.

Just hand sketches. I can pull together the overall dimension. Most dimensions were based on the size of the MFT and the number of systainers I needed to store, and an acceptable top height. I wanted a slightly higher work surface then my MFT so this arrangement suited my work habits and maximized storage ...  but I'll get them up on the board ASAP. Thanks for asking  ;)

Same as above as far as plans. The casters are from Lee Valley H-D Polyurethane Swivel Caster w/Brake 2" x 2-1/2" item #00K2121. I used 4 under each storage column for a total of 8 casters. Their rated at appx 90# each so that gave me plenty margin. They make it easy enough to move the cabinet around, and I rarely use the brakes, the weight of the cabinet keeps it in position ... and Thank you.

Agree, you have to play with the spacing a little to be sure you can open the front most systainer lid, but there is room, especially with the 28" full extension slides. I've left all my green handles on but I'm playing with the idea of just taking off the handles on the rear systainers an storing them behind the box ... but for now I'm twisting handles to open the systainers :)

Wow ... thanks for all the people who have given tips and feedback.  As I will have side by side compartments and will be using 3/4 inch ply (19mm?). what is the shortest euro screw I should use?

I've seen 5mm Euro screws that are 11.5mm long. They might fit just fine from both sides of the 19mm panel considering the thickness of the slide material. If need be just touch them against a grinding wheel.
 
[big grin] Thanks again JCWoodshop.  I have found some that are 6.3 x 10.5 euro screws that some have said to use for 5mm holes.  Will the 6.3 work you think?
 
6.3mm is fine. You'll also see some at 6.0mm.

I use 10.5mm screws in the drawer slides in the centre panels of my 18mm units, and 13.5mm in the sides.

Gary,

How did you do the cutouts for the hand holds? I currently have some stand off handles on my miter saw station, but I'm getting tired of hooking my self on the end.
