2020 Price Increase

Nope, no price increase last year. This year was expected with the new(er) tariffs in place.

not a very big change on most stuff.  What surprised me was price increases on CMS stuff.  It's discontinued in the rest of the world, I would think they would be trying to purge it all out.

Price increases I notice them and think it's probably the best that they price to earn money on their product, not so strange. Interest rates are so low so lack of ways to make money on money means you have to price after product value not just invest in intangibles .

Coin slots for pay-per-use will be mounted on the next generation of stuff one could buy to use eternally not that long ago.
Certainly you'll have to pay the initial product too, the per-use will be in addition as the rentiers need to get richer.

Festool learns from Adobe and makes all their tools only work if connected to the Cloud, don't pay the yearly fee the tool vaporizes.

Such things aren't that popular in German culture, so don't count on it.

I stay away from such things too. It always amazes me what ppl have connected via some cloud subscription...

Sigh... and here we go again. Ah well, just increases my tools resale value! lol

True. With the possible exception of my Kapex, every Festool machine in my ownership has been or will one day most likely be resold at or more than their original purchase prices.

Actually not. You just get more dollars, each of less value.

Only if you never use them. For example TS75 with track was $690 in 2013. Look at e-bay. See any 7 y.o., well used TS75 at that price? I agree that Festool hold it's value better than others, but let's not get carried away.

Wait a minute...I never sell any tools on eBay (too much competition?). I made small "profits" when I sold my TS75 (bought second hand, owned for 1 year or 2?), CT26 (3?), and Systainers (3). They were used but never abused, and were cleaned before images were "professionally" taken and loaded to Kijiji. The sales experience (may be not typical) drove me to get two sets of the PRO sanders when they were released. I use them both, but one day when I decide to resell one of them, I feel confident that I could at least break even.

I'm not selling my DF500 (7 yrs old), but I am expecting some profit if and when I do. My feeling is that many people looking for second hand machines may not have done enough home work before they make their counteroffers.

I hope to get a tiny bit of something when and if I sell my tools.  I'll use and abuse them in the mean time and smile.

Peter

Yea of the few Festool tools Ive sold I was able to sell them used for the same or more than I paid for them. I take EXTREMELY good care of everything I own, so that does help. But still, Festools price increases are one reason their tools hold their value so well.

“The profit on tools comes from the using”

But it is good to know the CMS is increasing in cost. As someone said they are discontinuing the CMS in Europe so I would expect it to go away in the USA.

I am planing on buying a CMS-GE soon so thanks for saving me $40
