Thinking of getting 2700 rail for sheet break down. Have the two 1400 rails, and I'm afraid to say I get lazy and do not join them! Just slide slide it along various previous pencil marks. With ok - ish results.
My question, do folk that have a 2700 rail leave in the workshop or do they transport it to various sites? My van is big enough, just,  peogeot boxer. Be on the diagonal, but won't stay in there.

Cheers guys.

I have a 3000mm rail that I use mainly in my workshop. On the odd occasion that I need to take it to site, I transport it in its original case (timber and hardboard) to avoid damage.
I only have a SWB Trafic, so it goes on the roof rack.
I would imagine if you were to carry a 2700mm rail about all the time, having to transport it diagonal is going to end up being a right PITA  [unsure]

I assume the 2700mm rail would come in a rigid box like my 3000mm rail....?

I have often wondered at what size Festool change the scope of delivery for their rails from cardboard boxes to timber boxes. I have a 1900mm rail that came in just a cardboard box.

Tim.

I bought a 2700 from Warren @ toolfest a few years back but it's stayed in my workshop. I had plans of cutting a slot in the bulkhead of my t5 so it would fit in my van but I've not got round to it yet. It does come in a hardboard and softwood package.

Thanks guys... I'll tap Charlie up at nuts and bolts to see what his stock is. It will mainly live in workshop

If it will stay in the workshop get the FS 3000 it is much easier to use with 8 foot sheet goods. Mine came in a timber box, when I am done with this project I am going to put some hinges on the top for easy storage and transport.
