36mm hose fitment in Midi I and cleaning set opinions?

I'm considering getting the 3.5m 36mm diameter hose and I was curious if it will fit in the hose compartment on the Midi I dust extractor.

I'm also debating between the tradesman kit, floor cleaning set, or the standard cleaning set w/ hose separately bought (at a price premium). Between the two floor nozzles, is there much benefit to the metal one, especially if I want it to be relatively lightweight for vacuuming dust off walls and ceilings occasionally?

I like how the standard kit comes with a small systainer just for attachments but I don't know if it has an insert or they're just attachments loosely thrown in a standard systainer I could buy separately. I'm not crazy about having to go pull a hose out of the large systainer on the tradesman/floor cleaning sets to get at any attachments, but again, I can't find any photos of how it's configured inside with inserts.

The standard kit's small systainer is just loose filled.  No insert or anything special.

The tradesman cleaning kit used to include an insert in the bottom to help keep things in one place, but I'm not sure about the newer sets (mine was purchased in 2016).

If you get one of the handle kits for the MIDI-I, the tubes can be stowed in that (except the angled piece), and the cord wrap makes more room in the "hose garage" for the hose itself.  I don't know off hand if the 36mm will fit in there without the cord; even though I have both things (MIDI-I and 36mm hose), I've never tried it.

The plastic tradesman set with the hose comes loose in a large systainer.
attachments on the bottom, hose on top of them.
Purchased 2 months ago in the US.
I personally like it because it gave me room to put my other hose accessories in as well.

That's a good point about the handle kit. That might be the way to go since you need that for a boom, I believe.

Also having the extra large systainer might be worth it to store whichever hose I'm not using, especially if the accessories are living on the handle kit.

I am still curious if the 36mm hose fits in a Midi-I if anyone happens to know.

The 36mm hose will not fit in the midi I wound up; you'll have to keep it in the systainer if you go for the tradesman set, which is a much better deal than buying the hose alone.

I went with the Floor Cleaning set after going back and forth on the others. Kit price is $345.
https://www.festoolusa.com/accessory/577259---rs-bd-d-36-plus#Overview

Metal floor sweep: $189
36mm hose: $195
Plastic handle: $29
Stainless extensions: $78
Crevice nozzle: $10
Sys3 437: $91

Total: $592

I figure, I could easily add any of the plastic stuff to what I have for less than I could add the metal bits later on to a less expensive kit. Or, I could add some generic plastic bits for even less cash.

Hi Chainring how do you like the floor sweep? Is it noticeably different than regular plastic nozzles with rollers? Do you think it's too heavy to use occasionally for wall/ceiling dust removal?

The one I have they called "Tradesman/Installer Cleaning set" 497 700. It used to sell for $255
That one does not appear in the latest catalog though. The closest thing seems to be the Craftsman set, but it has plastic tubes and mine are metal.
Either way, this is the best under the radar discounted "package" that Festool sells. The only way to buy a 36mm hose, IMHO

That's the same one I have, CRG.

And as far as "the only way to buy a 36mm hose", Festool admitted as much in their most recent "Inside Festool" video: Dust Extraction, Part 2 that either of the sets was the best way to get the 36mm hose, systainer, and accessories compared to buying any of them separately.

Personally, I doubt I'd use the metal floor sweep on walls or ceiling. For one, it is kinda heavy. Mostly though, I'm not sure I'd want the potential of banging the metal on walls or the ceiling. But then, I haven't used it in such a way so I'm not the best one for the question.

My gut tells me something like a Miele Parquet Twister would be better suited for such a task.

IIRC, Festool nuked at least a couple of the cleaning sets, pairing it down to the current three. I watch those price increase notices like a hawk, so I got my set before this years increase. It was $319 before.

No doubt this is one of the best packages. I already had a few cleaning nozzles around and now all that stuff is in the same Systainer. Anything else cleaning related will get thrown in there. Once place to go. No hunting around.

Funny enough I have that head on my regular vacuum. It is very nice but I have not looked into mixing the two systems of hose/tube/attachments.

I have one as part of a Miele C2 Electro+, though the head is slimmer. Maybe an older design. It has rubbery wheels and I'd assume they're non-marking.

There's this old Festool head and it looks like it'd might be good for the wall/ceiling dusting. Finding it in stock may be a challenge.

One of the best pro painters I know uses a leaf blower and fans in windows for dusting ceilings.

High powered dusting device. I've often joked that it'd be real convenient to stick everything movable in a house down so that I could dust with a blower.

I'm guessing the person you know is doing that in empty rooms?

The sets got 'updated' a year ago. See;https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/new-cleaning-sets/

They no longer come with an inlay besides a layer of soft foam at the bottom to prevent rattling

The one with metal tubes and dito floor piece that I bought pre T-Loc did come with an inlay (that I never really used). Can't speak for intermediate sets.

Also note the amount of different sets was reduced a lot;

It was mentioned in the recent Festool USA video that getting the D36 by buying a cleaning set is a good deal, and it's exactly how I got my D36 hoses last year and how I got my previous D36 hose too. It boils down to getting the Systainer and tubes almost for free.

Correct. Usually new construction or after a renovation.

I added the diamond shaped brush later too. I use it in my truck more than the shop though.
I've had one of the Wessel-werk powered head units in my Amazon cart for a while now, just never went through with it. The one that came in the set works well enough, since I don't hit that much carpet, so?

That is in T-Loc sys, right? The current set with plastic tubes in Sys³ 437 (?) comes with only a soft foam layer at the bottom

Curious - was it ever confirmed if the 3.5M x 36mm hose fit inside the garage of the CT Midi I ? Or does it hang out a little (or a lot)?

I'm thinking of getting this combo over a CT 26 simply due to the smaller size of the unit and was wondering how well this fit together.
