Do I need part 487721 "Hose Reducing Sleeve" in order for the 36 mm hose to fit on my TS 55.

Also part 452894 "Hose Sleeve Rotating Connector" - what is it used for?  what does rotating do?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Ed

The quick answer is no, the 36mm hose will fit over the DC port on the saw.

Rotating sleeve is the piece that's on the CT end of a 36mm hose. Description from our website:

Replacement Rotating Hose Connector for attaching Festool Antistatic D 36 (36mm) hoses to the inlet of the CT 22, CT 26, CT 33 and CT 36 Dust Extractors. External diameter 58 mm. Use replacement rotating connectors and reducing sleeves to create new custom sized hoses from longer lengths, or use to replace damaged parts. Antistatic components are only effective when used as part of a complete antistatic dust extraction system, including extractors or vacuums, hoses, sleeves and couplings.

Edited: I accidentally said "end of a stock hose" instead of "36mm hose".

To clarify Bob's statement, the 36mm hose goes on the outside of the extraction connection on most of our tools. The 27mm goes on the inside of the connection. No adapter necessary.

I own and use several 27mm AS hoses in 3.5m that comes standard with the CTs. I also own 5 m 27mm AS hoses. Those work fine with the TS55, TS75, all the sanders. MKF 700 and the OF1010.

In addition I own 3.5m and 5.0m 36mm AS hoses. Those are recommended for the cleaning equipment, OF2200, the planers and Kapex.

Sometimes when a 36mm hose was attached to a CT22 I have used it with a TS55. That hose is not as supple as the 27mm. Frankly I did not notice any improvement in dust extraction. For the TS55 and TS75 all you need is a 27mm hose.

Sorry - would have expounded on my reply but had to sneak in a reply via Droid phone. Celebrating my 15th anniversary at the Manor house in NJ.  Shane nailed it.
