What in the world are you making that requires almost 3000 Dominos?

And, how do you do it all upside down..?! [scared]

That count is just for this group of parts. The first set has been finished and installed. By the end of the project it will be about 7500 Dominos (1/2 the number of mortises 15,000).

What sucked the most was I broke a new 5 mm bit on the second plunge, must have been my lack of experience with the tool. Good thing I had an extra---Domino that is.

I'll have to figure out the upside down thing.

What are you building, all the cabinets for an entire subdivision  ??? ?

Were they built on True32 dimensions?

How long did it take to domino all of the boards?

I'm newbie so just trying to understand.

Towel cubbies and valances for a hotel. This is just 2 of the 9 floors to be done.

No, built to fit existing conditions.

About 2.5 hours. I was a little disappointed in myself on the last set, one mortice was off location. Hopefully these are better.

Tom

The Dominos and mortices come in handy for finish and transport. These travel about 450 miles for the install. The rack shown bolts on top of a rolling rack, the combination won't go through the trailer door due to height. So I designed the rack to separate. I'll take more photos of the setup when we load the trailer tomorrow.

Tom,

I think you're going to need a bigger shop.

Nice work!

Joe

Tell my wife that.

Actually, unless I can see many, many, many of these size jobs coming in I will leave things as they are. Many were crushed with debt when the economy tanked thinking it will always be a rosy economy. I'm to old and feeble to carry debt, its burden is to much for me to endure.

Amazing project. I have a difficult time doing repetitive tasks, I tend to make mistakes when I do. Nice job.

Tom:

looks like a well organized "oiled" machine...good to see the hotel project came through.

Is this stain the SW custom mixed, and sprayed...I think I remember.

Did you get the new trailer?

...a good strategy...and you can always raise prices if you get too busy  [wink]

...well it does have a way of kicking you in the arse and getting you up in the morining no matter how old you are.

Tim

Tim,

Yes it is a custom mix SWP BAC, sprayed and wiped. I got a new pressure pot with an internal mixer to keep the stain blended.

No trailer yet, I went to purchase an 8'6 x 18' with cargo doors, no one had one in stock with the doors I want. As with all my large purchases I took the wife with me. Avoids me having to remind her I told her about it then answering the how much. She didn't think I needed a larger trailer until she saw all the pieces.

The voices in my head get me up in the morning. They keep me company through the day also.

Tom

im always interested in the track saw vs free standing machine comparison-
so im wondering what you used for the cutting? TS55?
one work week of hours seems pretty quick to me for going thru 66 sheets plus all those other operations!
and how did you edgetape??
