The base arrived two weeks ago, but I just pulled it out to use, and discovered that the base was cupped.  Fortunately I'm still within the return/replace window, so I will be sending it back, but I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with this or some of the other thin router bases being defective in this way?

That's a ton, appears to be around .060'" or about 1/16". I guess I would expect a flatness of around .015"-.020" to be typical.

The warranty is legendary, but one would expect that the quality would not necessitate a claim.
There is not a lot of Q&A involved in checking flatness.

Better check... It may also be askew to the axis of rotation. (or the base is tilted).

I thought this might be the case, so I went to the dealer and checked their stock of small bore bases.  They were all perfectly flat.

Might be a lot flatter if it is connected… And if that is true this is a design choice.
