Hello all

My question is about the 5 mm Dominos, can you purchase them in a longer length than 30 mm?  Can they be purchased in stick form like the larger sizes?  I’ve been looking and I’ve not found anything but 5x19x30.    A 40-45 mm is what I’d like to find.  And no, using another size in the particular job will not work.  It’s a tongue and groove situation where the Dominos can not be thicker than the tongue or groove.  30 mm will work but 5 more mm on each side could be beneficial.  Yes I’ve thought about making my own but I’d rather buy them and be done.

Enjoy the day
Thank you

Hi Cheese

I agree, with a bit more diligent  layout I am able to fit a 6mm x 40mm in there which makes me feel better.  But I have no room for error and that’s what this woodworking thing is all about right?  Practice makes more fire wood.  Machine shop tolerance with wood. Thank you for the reply.

Enjoy your day.

On page 4 of Festool's own manual, under "Adjusting the milling depth", it says:

"For the jointer bit with a diameter of 5 mm, only jointing depths of 12 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm are permitted due to it's short shank length."
The 5mm bit being shorter than the rest makes sense as it already (even with the shorter length) has a higher tendency to break than the others.

I came to the conclusion to think about the 5mm dominos as for glue-up alignment only (for structural purposes I look at the bigger sizes) so I see no point in manufacturing longer ones. YMMV.
