Part of me says that binding screws are also only called for if you know that your slides will always be at the same height between the boxes. Otherwise, you're adding extra screws and still need a separate type of screw for the outside panel.
A fixed-length confirmat that doesn't interfere with a screw from the other side seems to be the most appropriate for universal application.
OK, but “Euro screws” appears not to be the best google search words. I get far more hits with: Counter-sunk Chicago screws. Many are metric sized.
I didn’t try the search, but “sex bolts” seems quite universal too. So try that too. And while metric might be standard, there are fractional sizes that match up well.
