The issue with the button head binding screws will be drawer box side  clearance. The screws and barrels need to be flat head that recess into the  slide. The drawer boxes have very little clearance to the slide.

Part of me says that binding screws are also only called for if you know that your slides will always be at the same height between the boxes.  Otherwise, you're adding extra screws and still need a separate type of screw for the outside panel.

A fixed-length confirmat that doesn't interfere with a screw from the other side seems to be the most appropriate for universal application.

OK, but “Euro screws” appears not to be the best google search words.  I get far more hits with:  Counter-sunk Chicago screws.  Many are metric sized.

I didn’t try the search, but “sex bolts” seems quite universal too. So try that too.  And while metric might be standard, there are fractional sizes that match up well.

Probably easiest to use alternate holes on the slide if using euro (system) screws. One slide screw is in the front hole, next slide screw is in the second hole.

Gets called #7 in the states at times, so it's hard to find.  You may also see it as 6mm which is actually thread diameter, not shank.  Last four digits denote the length so 1300 is the 13mm deep one.

I found the distributor of these screws:

They describe it as “ 6.3 mm x 11.5 mm Nickel Plated Pozi Drive 7 mm Flat Head Euro Screw”.  So the panel with the hardware would have to measure 23mm for these to work on both sides.

A & H Turf has them listed at $0.04 each.  As is typical, Turf’s online site is wonky.  The specs do not appear.  And the accompanying photo is not guaranteed to match the part number. 

So it is best to download the entire Blum catalog and use their part numbers. 

So about 1/2 the cost from Amazon, but shipping is additional, and unless you are ordering some other hardware at the same time, Amazon might be a better choice.  Especially if you are a Prime member.

Reviving an oldish thread. About to install 5 base cabinets, frameless. I have extra 5mm holes and I'd like to use them with sex-bolts/binding posts. Idea being just drill the rest of the 5mm hole out first. Would help with aligning the faces easily too.

Amazon seems to only carry M6 or 6mm and the M5 variations are all too short and for leatherwork?

Why is this so hard to find what I want? 3/4" panels, 5mm system holes. So it needs to work in a 1 3/8" - ~1 3/4" range.

They're $8 per 25 pack. They said they mainly deal direct which is why you can't get them locally unless you pay a huge upcharge to Rockler. Located in NC and I'm Virginia so maybe I'll have them tomorrow.

This company, located in Canada, claims to manufacture their own screws.  The claim is a bit ambiguous.

“We are a green company, our machinery runs on hydropower…”. But they don’t come our and state “we make all the screws that we sell”.  So, ambiguous.

I have counter sunk Chicago screws using a small forstner bit to make a stopped hole. The forstner bit has to be larger than the head of the screw.  Drill down just enough so that the head is not proud of the surface.

Funny that you would bring this up after nearly a year, when I just had a reason to use them.
Last Friday, I finally got started on the cabinets for the "fireproof firewood" prototype, from a few months ago.
The ones I am using are 6mm on the barrel part, with a 4mm hex on both heads. They were just something from the stock room though, not specifically for this job. They are not ideal though. There were two different length screws in the pack, both wrong. A 1" screw will reach, but the thread engagement is not enough. The others were 1 1/2", which is too long. I made a little jig to shorten the long ones and bevel the ends, which worked out fine.
I have been taking Mondays off for the last several weeks, so no pics yet.
