All and any,

If I need to router a mortise in the top of a table to match the angle of the through tenon from the table leg at an 8 degree angle from the flat table surface, and want to use a MFS as a template.  How can I do this?

Do I put an 8 degree shim under the router?  If so, won't it not "glide" properly against the template?

Or do I put an 8 degree shim under the template?  But that would seem to have some issues trying to make this right?

Or what do you recommend?

I do not own a MFS, but wanted to use this as an excuse to get it.

Thoughts?

I'd try a shim under the MFS if I had to go that rout.  You'd probably be better served in this application with jig you could make in the shop in less than a half hour.

What about using pieces of beveled siding?  They should be around that 8 degree angle.

Also, some window sills are around 7 degrees.

Great ideas in the above posts, practice on some scrap pieces and have at it. Good luck.  [smile]
