Beautiful work as always! High end everything.

No pot filler?

Pot filler was considered. I think they're a waste of money. You fill a pot with cold water, then have to move a pot full of hot water. Seems backwards to me.

Only picture I currently have off the island. Worked on the splash until 7:30 Tuesday night, showed up to this 7:30 Wednesday morning.

I have to get pics of the butler and pantry ares.

[member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] - Backsplash with kitchen attached - wish I could see this in person and enjoy the details hidden from view. I know you put'em even where they can't be seen from the outside. I'm sure jobs like this would make interesting learning if it were shown and explained in a video sequence. You are so organized the way you approach your work - inspiring !
thank you,Tom.

Thanks everyone.

A few here know that this is the last job I will be doing in what has been my home area for the last 60 years. Remodeling was my second career, each lasted about 25 years.

Time to write the 3rd chapter of my life.

Quite the party remnants.  [tongue]  Makes me appreciate my friends more as they would have cleaned up before departing.

With 1/2" line the pot filler can fill a LARGE pot very quickly. Verse a sink faucet that takes longer than my patience offers.

Not all hot items need to be moved from the stove in one shot, but I hear you on making something like pasta, that gets dumped in the sink.

Cost can be an issue, as often they are $600+.

Are you going to share what the 3rd chapter of life entails?

I understand the patience thing.

The faucet on the island was $3500.00, $600.00 is a drop in the copper sink...

Off to Colorado Springs. Will be fabricating and installing the casework for a custom home builder.

So where to from here Tom? For some reason I don’t think your third stage of life development will be chasing a little white ball across green grass.

You probably have bigger fish to fry...just a hunch.

I hope stage III still involves some form of home improvement that you can/will share. All these old dogs 🐶 on this forum can still learn new tricks...myself included.

I do take exception to pot fillers however, I’d never finish off a kitchen again without one, just place it off center out of the way of grease from the stove...never really understood why people place them directly in the way of a rising mass of steam and grease. They become a cleaning nightmare.

I've never golfed in my life, no need for the aggravation. I'd go back to easy sports, bowling and hockey.

I mentioned I'll be fabricating and installing the casework for a custom home builder. I've committed to two to test the waters. Where it leads from there, time will tell. My wife will be staying here until I make a final decision.

I'll be about 40 minutes from "my girls"View attachment 1.

Cute kids Tom, they grow up quick.

Good luck with the new adventure, I’m sure there’ll be a tale to tell.  [big grin]

Tom, - you have the right idea: try before you move. Get to know the area and the customer(s) and see how it all fits before settling on a new personal home.
Thankfully Colorado Springs has internet  [wink]so we can count on your continuing helpful posts on the FOG.

All the Best!

Hans

Beautiful kitchen, Tom.  I especially like how the countertop steps out to meet the stove depth.  The finish on the cabinets is just gorgeous, too.  Best of luck in your new adventures.  [smile]

Awesome job Tom, C. Springs is a beautiful place.  Have friends that live in Garden of Gods, always enjoy visiting.

This custom home builder has just found a treasure!

All the best.  Bill
