A basement bar

This is a project I have been working on since October last year.  The job is the complete build out of a basement guest and entertainment area.  This space incorporates wall to wall walnut wainscoting, 4 televisions including a 65" and a 32" karaoke monitor, gas log fireplace, brick lined arched ceiling, wine cellar, and an elevated, full sized sport bar.

I lucked into a gig back in September that required my particular set of tools.  Namely, my new boss needed me to build all of the casework for this project.  My boss was very skeptical about the entire Festool concept but the job specs called for frameless cabinets and was not entirely comfortable with the build.  I wanted to use the entire Tru 32 system line boring the side panels for every bit of hardware possible but the boss was inclined to install hardware in the field.  We compromised by building our boxes using the metric system for height and standard english per the print for width, no holes.

The drawers are all domino drawers which is an upgrade in that the previous standard drawer was a box nailed together.  For whatever reason the existing standard also includes 3/4"ply sides with edgebanding and 1/4" ply bottoms.

We used Blum hardware both for hinges and slides

The "bar" has many built-in appliances including, a two drawer under counter fridge, ice maker, two drawer dishwasher,  a beverage chiller, two sinks and two garbage disposals.

In the upper cabinets there are two 29" tv/monitors.

Thanks guys.  The customer will be back sometime next week so I imagine there will be a party next week.  Too late for the Super Bowl unfortunately.  Hey, maybe what they don't know won't kill them.  If you guys come up, we will party in their basement.

there is a wood bar that surrounds the back and sides of the island that make up the "patron" area.  It is enormous and requires us to uninstall a window to get it into the basement.  It is beautiful and I am sorry that I did not get a chance to build it, but the guy who did is awesome and an old school Festool guy.

This is the entry way into the "entertainment area.

The bulk of the work on the wainscoting was done by my boss and his brother before I started with them.  Not too shaby for work without the aid of Festool.

It must be amazing to be able to work on a job like this with the quality of materials, etc., when so many of the guys are not.  That speaks to the quality of your work.  Exquisite!

Here are some more photos.  These are of the karaoke stage, fireplace and the built-in housing the 65" main tv and the karaoke monitor.  The fire place conceals the AV rack on the left side through a hidden door and the right side the Luetron lighting controls.  Both closets are faced with a panel that is hinged with inset Blum hardware.  We are working out the details regarding how to open them without a visible handle.
