I am about to embark on a large project.

It has been in the planning for over a year.  It is encompassing many project thoughts and ideas here along with others that have never been seen here before that I can see with my research.

The basics of the project are:

1.  Build a cabinet base that will support 2000 lbs plus for a saltwater aquarium.

2.  Build a hood to fit on the aquarium that will provide for the lighting required and also allow for ventilation to prevent heat buildup.

3.  Construct 2 complimentary cabinets and possibly a wet bar to accompany the aquarium in other parts of the room.

My questions to the members is - Is this a type of project that spurs your interest and you would want a separate post and a question and answer area about the the process, or do you want me to do it and not spend the time on the documentation?

Peter

Peter, I will be very interested in hearing about your project as it progresses.

I have had considerable experience in posting project updates as I work and have always received valuable advice and constructive criticism along the way.

Have fun!

Frank,

You, like many others here, understand the extra time and effort that takes place when documenting the process to do a large project.  I just wanted to know if this was a type of project that might be interesting to others before I devoted that time documenting my time and effort.  I didn't want to bore others - I have that ability.  [eek]

I'd love to see an aquarium stand documented.  I was going to install a large salt-water tank under my stairs as a built-in, but opted against it.  Back then, they didn't have anything reasonable to cool tank water and leaving the house A/C at 65 in Phoenix is not financially viable.  I had designed a "tank A/C" that would have been installed under the stairs in an access closet.  er, well, okay, rambling, but an aquarium-anything build interests me :)

Since you offered, document away.  [thanks]  Pictures are always appreciated especially when they include the work in progress shots.

Man, we always want to see projects. Doesn't need much time. We don't need detailed instructions. Just take a pic so now and then and then post them. Would love to see your work. But I was just wondering ....... a 'wet bar', is that a place where the fish come to get a drink?

Just post the pics Peter, if people have questions about specifics of construction you can answer. I don't see a reason to fully document the build other than the photos.

Go for it Peter, i will be watching & if i have any questions i will ask. Pics are good  [big grin]

peter,  also since it a a fish tank you may also want to add a small sushi bar....... lol  good luck and as chuck says post pics as you go.

Of course!!  I get a tremendous amount from the member's projects.  Please document all you want.

Peter, I'd like to see the progress and finished project. The amount of documentation is up to you, I think a full set of working plans, a semi-detailed written step by step of the building process and a daily video of the progress should be sufficient. ;D

No, whatever you have time for would be great even if that's just pictures of the build.
